I might have seen the brand new playtech you are talking about last week in his shop getting finished up.

Hammertone grey frame and gloss black panels? It's a fun ride, unfortunately engine issues stopped it short. Whoda figured??-mine stayed running and his has a crank knock.

Last trip out it seized up solid. Took a casual cruise for gas, came back to camp then let er rip! It did fine, then I backed off and cruised for a few seconds and with no warning it just locked up at about 1300 RPM. The JB welded mains and all my other BS is fine, it was that one rod bearing that still had a tight spot I'd ignored. It spun & stacked instantly, no discoloration or major new damage. I'm gonna sand down the crank, put an old bearing in and run it again 'till it blows proper like! This time I'll stake and JB the rod bearing so it won't spin again. If it's gonna blow up I want some REAL damage with parts hanging out so there's no doubt as to what happened.

Very Happy --like button.
The rod's back in and torqued, tomorrow I'll try & get the rest back together and test run it.

I'm trying to get motivated enough to take the pressure plate off mine today and to think you've got enough energy to build a piece of crap just for shoots and giggles. I wish I had your get up and go. Hell, I'm pondering whether I've got it in me to make another pot of coffee or just sit here.

Coffee through the morning hours and now rum. I roast my own beans and sometimes make the rum, but I've been slacking on the latter.

Just got done running her, sounds better than the first time around. I got rid of the little tight spot the one rod had and for good measure I peened and locktited the bearings to the rod. All the JB weld I could see inside the case was still there and holding and end play is still good. Oil pressure is good and no abnormal sounds at all. If I find some spare time and $ I'm gonna strap one of my nitrous kits to it for the next outing, just need a fogger nozzle.

for this build, just find some copper tubing and hammer the tip flat and hook up the go juice.

You do have a helmet and fire ext. nearby, right?

That's plain silly talk, hammering it flat would restrict flow.

To keep with the "spare all expenses" theme going I guess I really should make my own injector set-up. I'll think up some kinda bastardized back-yard engineered redneck spray system. I'll try & find a way to employ JBweld into it for good measure Wink

we (my brother)made a setup for the gokart,I think he had it spraying through the carb so it would pull extra fuel and you reached around & tuned the carb while you were standing on it to get it just right. It out run a few mustangs in the late 80's early 90's. it was kinda fun. bot would that sucker sing, it only had a cam, springs, piston&rod in it, but other than that a stock 5hp brigs. so it shouldnt be hard to build your own for this mess you have there.take some vid's too.

I'd love to dyno it.

Been away distracted by other toys & projects. I'm taking the clunker out to Ocotillo Wells for the holidays so I'll get to see if it holds together. We've got plenty of toys in case this one takes a dump, but I'm relatively confident it'll go for a while. If it lives I'll see about bringing it back again and taking up Bill's offer. The toys all stay in storage down there, but I could pull the motor and bring it back again.

I'm glad people are entertained by my ridiculous "rebuild", makes it all the more worth while doing what I did. Very Happy

I forgot to report after the desert trip. It ran great! It didn't get a lot of hours, but got plenty of hard revs. Much faster than the stock motor I had and definitely has a meaner sound.
