a little update!
Did some small work before Bug Run 2011 at Mantorp Park, Sweden!
The AllyCat wheels got a "speedy"-makeover!
polished the lip and sprayed the center with semigloss black paint and "grinded" the top of edges! Not top-notch, but looks a little better!
The squareback survived the 9000 km trip! And the "new" porsche seats was really good! So that was a good investment! =)
But still have one problem I havent sorted out yet!
When driving in Highway speed 90-120 km/t the car do kind of "wave its tale"(dont know what its called in English) not much but a little bit!
Have changed the 2 rubberbushing behind torsionbar cover! So maybe its the inner IRS arm bushing or subframe bushings??

Have it 4 wheel aligned. My guess is that the rear is out. _________________ 64 No'back Speedster "Pearl"

Its been quiet for a while here in this tread, but it doesnt mean that nothing has happened!
Just bought a new set of wheels for my squareback!
Some custom-made 16" 3 pc 914 2.0 fuchs look rims!
I am not sure about what width those are, but think its 7.5x16" in front and 8x16" in the rear!
Still have to figure out what tire size I will go for!

Have now test-fitted some 205/55-16 on the rear wheels! It was tight for sure!
So I think 195/55-16 will be better!
On the front wheels i have planned to go for 175/50-16! I guess there will be some stretch on 7.5"

I have now fitted 175/50-16 tyres on the 7.5x16 front wheels! Got a bit of stretch on them.

mate im lovin the change of rims... those others thing were ugly haha
the red with those rims just looks mint.
after flipping the pics around & relooking at them... i reckon you should drop the front 1 click... have the guard sittin just off the top of the rim... it will match the back & the stance will look insane.
just my 2 cents worth
cheers matty _________________ the dc baggin is because its a well known fact that a restored sc will never be worth anywhere near what even a shitbox dc is |

Yes, I have been thinking about that it should have been lower in front! But the frontbeam must be modified if that is going to happen! Got not much clearance as it is now to that two mounting points and sparewheel-well! So just have to see what I will do!
Bought tires for the rear wheels, decided to go for 195/55-16 Minerva!
So now its clearance, almost too much..
And the whole package in the backyard of the workshop!

Its a long time since last update!
Had several nice roadtrips with my squareback this summer!
But the most memorable was the trip to European Bug In #5 in Chimay, Belgium
This picture is taken by my good friend Arild Dyrkorn, and is on the roads in Belgium between Waterloo and Nivelles. Going back from DAS Cruise night
Winterproject is to upgrade engine and fix up other details! I am going for a 2276 engine, it will be a engine build to do more road trips.
Ofcourse I will test it on the dragstrip too, have to see if I can beat 20.596 with stock and tired 1600 engine! _________________ -61 VW 1200 Beetle, -69 VW Squareback, -74 BMW 1602, -82 VW Polo G40, |
