Reminds me of a guy I worked with a long time ago who was too lazy to tote a toolbox around the plants we worked at. I cussed him for years after he left the company. Stripped nut and bolt heads on anything he touched Laughing. I do carry something similar as a emergency repair kit when I'm driving on trips. A cheapy test probe light is great to have in a kit for roadside repairs.

Hello,

Alte Blechdose,

Maybe the the guy was using the u.s. standard size on the nuts and bolts.
He didn't think about mm.

The set is used all the time on the Empi and aside from he heavy duty stuff and lift can almost take the Sportster apart.

Axitech,

You know what the they say, it is not the size of the hammer, it is how you use it. Especially if you have to remove the bolt on the bottom of the shock.
Low and slow. Laughing

But he and you are using "universal wrenches and pliers". Guess he never tightened them enough on the metric ones. Maybe you have the super secret metric versions. The guy just disappeared so we may never know. Rumor has it he was abducted by aliens who wanted his toolkit. It's a bitch breakin down around Uranus every time they go get tacos.

I'm always interested in tool kits for acvw... Anyways this is one of the best I've seen and compact too...

http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=183148&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0

I've added pixi stick straws (the really fat ones filled with sweet sugar) and packed them full of grease and sealed the ends, great single use grease packets.

SBD, We called him Skippy. But there are some shocking similarities:shock:. Claimed he saw God once.

Sears Metric wrench set, Kobalt 1/4 drive metric socket set w/extensions, Medium adjustable wrench, Bent tip long needle nose pliers, Screw drivers, Wire cutter/crimper, Vise grips, Test light, roll electric tape, Pill bottle with electric connectors and fuses etc., 5 ft. of bail wire and 5 ft. 12 awg automotive wire. This is what I use for a long trip. Jack and stuff is a given.

Sneakers, Bandaids, Roll of really nice toilet paper and half bottle of water if you can't afford the above mentioned tools. A really pissed wife is a bonus!! "I told you not to take this POS." For those of us that need motivation.
