I cleaned my wheel bearings and re greased them new seals and put everything back including new breaks. With the brakes adjusted correctly there seems to be a bit of drag no metal scraping nothing like that just hard to turn. I have not torqued it down yet .
I am curious since i have never spun the wheel without he axle on how much drag is normal ? how hard should it be to turn with not wheel on and no axle connected ?

Hi
Should not be hard to turn.
You may need to loosen the E-Brake cables and re-adjust.
Then adjust your E-Brake.

The rear axles on my '74 feature one side "tight", if spun with thumb &
index finger, lucky to move 1/4 turn, and one "loose", rotates about 1
turn then stops. Both are as used for about 99,000, plus P.O. mileage
unknown, your re-pack has probably slowed down the roller action
considerably. The loose one of mine will actually let the hub roll till
the lighter portion with the cut-out in hub is somewhere between 10
and 2 O'clock, CV axle not attached, of course. I would turn them and
listen for any coarse sounds. I doubt you did damage by lubing them up. |
