Would anyone be able to tell me what I could possibly sell a 72 super beetle original engine for...im not sure if anythings been done to it.it looks like no but you never know...id like to sell it as is but im not sure what its worth.

check your locall classifieds theres always aircooled motors in there.i see superbeetle motors sell here for $300cnd. unless its been modified then that question cannot be answered unless you take it apart. |

That is a good year...dual-relief case, 8 mm head studs, steel case savers, larger oil galleries, larger oil pump, etc, so you need to advertise it to those that are looking to eventually build a bigger motor with it. It should have a serial number with AE, AH perhaps or something similar, if it's the original. |

That year may not have the 8mm and (factory)inserts if it is an AE case. Most AE's had 10mm and no inserts..... it has all the other good qualities listed but I don't think the 8mm's and case inserts came out until the AH and AK cases a bit later... Did you ever run it or hear it run?
If you can fire it up and it is complete and you can run it by using a tranny or bus tranny bellhousing to start it, when someone wants to see it you can get more $$ for it.... |
