A.) Nope, no swivel seat yet, that other deal fell through unfortunately. Somebody out there's got to have one for me. C'mon this bus deserves it.
B.) Sorry, no new pics to post of it. The ones posted from the Woodburn show last summer are the most recent. It has been in hibernation all winter and I haven't driven it for a long time now.
C.) Shad never had this bus in Spokane! He had it in Redding Ca., but it was never on the road when he had it. That's who I got it from 11-12 years ago now. Thanks again Shad, it's in good hands, I plan on keeping it forever. |

OK, so I'm not really a thread guy, and I haven't been on the Samba much as of late so I haven't been a round for a while. You nailed it though! Buzz Goeckler(pronounced "Bus" odly enough) was the guys name and he died years ago now. I went to his house and talked to his son, as I had to get a bill of sale and a signature from his next of kin to originally register the bus in Cali. I wanted those hyro foils SO bad!!! 1 green one and 1 red one if I remember correctly. He had TONS of stuff at his house! Just one of those collector pack rat guys his whole life. I found the original matching Chico license plate frames, and the original side mirror in the UPS brown paint when I went out there. Cool score! That was around '96 and I wanted to go back as he was cleaning out the property, but I never did...stupid, stupid, stupid me!
Yes, Jerry Terry was the UPS driver and guy who got it out of UPS. I talked to him years ago too when I lived in Chico. Wish I would have talked with him more actually.
Sadly...this bus will be listed for sale up here soon! Not necessisarily dying to sell it, as I have always planned to die with this thing. I don't really NEED to sell it either, but it will be listed on here soon! Other projects are looming and selling this will take care of a lot of those. Be on the lookout for it in the classifieds sometime in the next week or so! No...it won't be cheap...but it will be worth it!!! Somebody's gonna be stoked...

Shad's last name was "Mattioli" (not sure of the spelling) and then it changed in the mid 90's to "Spencer" last time I talked to him |

Sorry if I offended you Mouse, I haven't been on here in a year! Umm...Hi.
If you guys want to find a person though, try Google, this is a thread about a bus. I'm not trying to be a dick, but this is one of the reasons why I don't like threads.
Bus will not be listed by me. Price will be set once the ad is placed. (for those who have already PM'd asking for the price) |

yup you are correct this is a thread about a bus, a bus that Shad once owned before you so he is a part of the history, no need to get your panties in a wad mr "el thread disliker" we are just curious where one of the previous owners of the UPS bus went.
Well I just spoke with Shad's mom and she said that he is living in Portland.I left my contact info with her and i should hopefully be talking to Shad Spencer tomorrow.perhaps he has some more info or photo's of this super rad bus. |

Sorry, not trying to hate on anything, its just my own preference as to the threads.
I've always given him credit as to its history. Wouldn't have it if it wasn't for him. Glad you finally made contact. |

A friend of mine in the Portland area said he still sees the bus parked at the same spot on a regular basis. He sent me a pic from his cell a few months ago

sweet pic!
The number above is 63200.
Looks like a regular walkthough, not a swivel seat. Black upholstery?
I think the front turn signals may not be stock, possibly 'upgraded' from the bullets.
The number on the bus below is 63162
