There was on the samba a long time ago a beetle with a Lombardini 20-something HP . Aircooled. And it looked like a clean install.
I cannot find the thread on thesamba but here is it on another forum:

it gets great gas mileage. _________________ 1965 Sunroof Beetle

| I have found the information on the Kohler KD625-3. Twin cylinder, 1870cc, 374 pounds, 36.9 hp, and 84.8 pounds torque. Air cooled. I did find more technical on the Kohler site. It looks like there are a lot of adapters. I did not look for any price information. This may be a alternative. |

Interesting. At 375lbs (dry?) that's about twice the weight of a stock engine _________________ Jack Staggs

I think it's brilliant. Just needs a turbo to make some speed and a little insulation to quiet that racket down. And the correct tail lights. Sheesh! _________________ EMPI Power Rules! |

maybe you can't see the point for the exhaust, however, i would suggest that a 60+ year old diesel split is just about as interesting as it gets... then again, i used to be a trucker, and diesel is where it is at... _________________ regards

I maybe wasn't clear, the prototype made by Porsche of course is very interesting, I meant that a replica was just a waste of a good split. Diesel is fine in a Peterbilt. _________________ 1973 1303S w sunroof Click to view image
