Someday when spring starts warming things up here in Michigan, I'd like to repaint some of my interior pieces....seat frames, shifter, E-brake handle....but not sure what the proper color would be. I see WW offers some spray can colors but wondering is someone can help me with what color my car would have been...see pics below
Thanks for any help
Matt

| L471 Stone Beige was the interior paint color (column, seat frames, steering wheel, etc) in 1960. |

Nope, it was L471 on those interior parts on all Deluxes for model year 1958, 1959 and 1960. Then in 1961 they had a number of different interior colors, that was a one year experiment. The gear shift/hand brake lever didn't get painted Anthracite until model year 1962 and 1963.

Thanks Andy!
Mayhem...I did check the color charts here on the Samba...but when I look at this car, which in Indego Blue, I probably should have stated that, It does not list anything other that upholstery...which seems to be different from my car. _________________ 58 Beetle (now just a pile of parts in the corner)

One thing that frustrates me about that oft utilized paint code reference page: there is NO section to cover early 1960 (Pre-August 60) for steering column tube gearshift and hand brake lever. It only has paint and upholstery info for that timeframe.
I am looking for solid data on a L41 Black, 113 Model. Specifically, the steering wheel color.
Would have thought it was the same color as the steering column tube. However while I've been told that the 1960 L41 black car would have had an L 471 stone beige steering wheel, that does not match with the steering column colors for a pre-60 (L 466 silver beige), or an August 60 (L 467 basalt grey)
Steering wheels and steering columns weren't the same colors?

thank you so much 60ragtop. I'm going with that data.
(and can I say that Stone Beige is really kinda a crappy color? lol. I'm either going to hate it but have the experts respect it, or I can choose a less offense color for me, and those guys will think I screwed it up.) |

Sonoma,
Depending on how close you're trying to stay with stock, you can also convert your interior accents to Silver Beige.
I went with Silver Beige on my column, wheel, seat frames, shifter, etc.. because that was the factory combo with Anthracite. It's similar to Stone Beige, and it's possible no one would ever consciously pick out the difference. But it is a color you might prefer. |

Thanks panic.
I appreciate and use that feedback before finalizing which color.
If I wasn't going with black paint, anthracite would prob be my backup; it fits well with the older models I think. Yours looks so nice.
Do you have any photos of your silver gray interior? (Thanks) |

| My bad. I was looking at the wrong pic. Yes, I wondered what that was under the dash. My 60 does not have it. Sorry for my confusion. |

The under dash knob in that location is usually a fog
light. You might also see the control for a gas heater there, if one is equipped. |

Thank you for the huge compliment! Here is a picture that shows the Silver Beige on the column, shifter, and e-brake:
And the seat frame against the oxide red:
