Looked through my Bentley (1979 edit) last night but could not find a chart on light bulbs stating lamp numbers for specific locations. Ex- tail/brake=1157.
Is there such a guide or chart?
Specifically I need a license plate lamp # now.

Searched first using "lamp" and "bulb" in titles. Sorry if this is a repost.

Thanks,
Dim in St Louis.

Yes, there is a chart right in your owner's manual, many of which there are electronic copies of on this very site.

I took my old bulb to the auto parts store and looked in the light bulb section. They had 2 that looked like it. The difference was 5 watt or 10 watt. I went with the 10 watt. It works great.

Ah ha! The owners manual. I knew I had seen that chart before.
In my glovebox just under my nose while I was sitting in the passenger seat thumbing through the Bentley last night.
I am a dumbass. Embarassed
At least I can buy the #89 license plate lamp on my way home from work now.
Thanks.

The official VW Owners' Handbook, for the British specification, 1973 VW 16/1700 Type 2, also specifies the bulb wattages, for each application; including those in North America.

I've been replacing bulbs with LED replacements, and I found 2 very small bulbs beside the front turn signal lamps - I can't read the markings - any Idea what they are?

Thanks for any advice,
