cargo door opening issues when locked or unlocked

hi guys,
i am looking for some advice to a problem i have with my cargo door lock mechanism.
i can lock and unlock my bus door but when i move the handle to open the door it only goes down part of the way and it is not enough to make the top and bottom rods clear the door so i can open it and not only that but the door strike on the inside of the cargo door no longer moves unless i push it with my finger.
please can someone give me some advice of what the problem is and how to fix it as at the moment its pretty hard to get the cargo doors open.

Sounds like there’s something wrong inside the latch. These latches have a hard life and it’s getting harder to find an original that’s not worn. Here’s some info on what they look like when you crack them open.
