Just purchased a 66 bug, very good condition. But first problem is old gas and not driven much. So..balked some when driving, then stopped. Will be cleaning gas tank with tumbler method, but should i get new pump, or fix old one....(its orig.). Thanks guys...Bruce D.

If it's the kind with a replaceable diaphragm, I would probably repair it. The new production pumps seem to be pushing way too much pressure lately. Maybe you could just transfer your diaphragm spring to a new unit so it doesn't over-pressure your needle valve.

Remove old gas, run new fuel lines w/clamps and run the fuel pump it has on it... if it works and doesn't leak, you're good.
