I have a 63' beetle and I'm replacing the floor pans. Actually, this is a full restoration and I want to keep it as close to factory original as I can. I know I can't get orignial German pans anymore. That being said, who makes the closest to OEM/NOS that I can get my hands on. All i can find are ones made in Mexico, Brazil or Taiwan. I head that the ones from Klokkerholm are from Taiwan. Is that true? I would at-least like to keep the pans European as close to Germany as possible. Any help I can get website links, phone numbers or anything would be awesome.

Thank you!

Klokkerholm is Danish. I can assure you, you most likely do not want to keep your pans European 'cause they will suck! I would go with the pans from Wolfsburg West, everyone says they're the best.

The ones WW supply are in my opinion the best.

Thick, with crisp stamping and all the holes lined up perfectly. Just use your own rear cross member supports and jack points if possible to maintain as much originality as possible.

Wolfsburg West pans are the thickest I've used...almost drop right in with very little massaging on the front outside corners. Every pan is welded here at the factory...so it varies from car to car just how thick the weld bead was originally. The WW pans are stamped with just enough extra metal to grind to fit your pan. The thickness and stampings couldn't be any better in my mind... (Unless you are replacing them in a Split or Oval, they lack some originality there)

Wolfsburg west are solid quality for your year car, they are what I used. For splits and ovals I believe it goes to Klassicfab, but they only make floorpans for those early bugs

So ....everyone seems to agree that WW pans are the best ...but no one says where they are made? Are we to believe that WW has invested in the very heavy equipment, and almost-exactly-original metal stamping molds to make VW Beetle floor pans for a quite-limited, narrow VW restoration market? Million$, I would guess ....

If it does not say where it is made - assume China.

Pans made in Europe or the USA would "scream" that they are made there.

I recently bought a Hella workshop lamp which cost around US$300 and it did not say where it was made. After a bit of research guess what - it was made in China.

If you don't want to buy anything made in China then sell your VW right now because more and more stuff is made there. The WW pans are light years better than the Danish pans. There is no comparison.

I subscribed to WW's YouTube channel ....lots of 'warehouse' tours ...no factory tours. You'd think a company that advertises "Made by Wolfsburg West" would be proud to show off their factory where they take raw, flat rolled steel sheets and turn it into floor pans and body repair panels ....not to mention all the other bits and bobs "Made by Wolfsburg West". ...Just saying ....
