It doesn't look like much but that storm here yesterday was nasty. 50 MPH wind gusts on the drive home from my office. All went well except for an obligatory floppy windshield wiper.

The one spot I had to break out the shovel was the last two feet before my garage door.

This is one of those times when I can say without a doubt that there were several instances in which I would certainly have gotten stuck in my 2WD. I'm really enjoying the Syncro!

Jeez, Jake - having a bad day? Maybe we should discuss our experiences at the Steamboat Springs ice driving school? Or perhaps a picture of my student driving my LandCruiser at college with Michelin X-Ice tires on it this year? Or my LandCruiser here at home with Michelin X-Ice tires on it? Or perhaps the Michelin X-Ice tires for our Subaru sitting in a stack in the garage? Maybe a picture of the Quattro on its steel studded rare original lace rims would help me qualify up for you. Or the other stacks of steel studded winter tires for the Lexus? And finally (with a deep bow in your direction) the set of steel studded winter tires also stacked in the garage on original Vanagon alloys for - drum roll please - my Vanagon.

Tired of the needless abusive posts, sir.

Blue and White in the snow.

White on a ski trip to the ADK and Lake Placid. Got caught in an 8 storm on the drive home. White has been a champ in the past 12 months as I put close to 6,000 miles on her since MDW 18.

Got 12" overnight after this pic was taken, but didn't take any pictures. The wood stove in the tent came in handy.

From a recent chilly morning, I was driving it around town a bit before work to keep the battery charged.

Below, I stopped to re-connect the cables to the heat box flappers. The temp got down to 28f.

FWIW: self-quoting from "What your van did today" thread...

dhaavers wrote:
Past weekend saw me button up my CACH install (Cheap Ass Chinese Heater) and I took the van out for
a rare snow season trip to town. Things the van did:

- After 5 months hibernation, van started up effortlessly... Cool
- Took me to town to stock up on kerosene...
- Stopped for a quick photo op on the way home...

Not AT the end of the road, but you can see it from here... Wink

Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

Later same day:

- Housed me for a night of driveway camping to break in the heater...
- Reflectix covering all windows, top down, curtain behind cab/front seats...
- Heater on low about 7pm, 28F outside, took ~10 minutes to get the van to a comfy 55...
- Heater off at 11pm, tucked in for the night (30 Kelty bag inside Coleman flannel bag, plus stocking cap)...
- 8am: (27 inside/20 out) hit the remote to power up the heater, cozy again in about 10 minutes... Twisted Evil
- Opened the door to find this, and more coming down all day:

Heater worked perfectly, very pleased...plus I have another 10 gallons of kerosene ready to burn! Laughing Wink

Use the van as the winter fat bike shuttle rig since I got the BA6 blowing hot air.
