Any update on this engine swap? Or did you fix your old one..I guess I am just lazy y old age..I wonder if VW thought they'd last this long? I guess they didn't realize how addiction to these vans is strong...Our club says '"a addiction only cured by death". I personally have been addicted to these things since the 60'$ Owned at least 25 & 15 on the road... Bill in Puerto Rico...How's everything where you all are,?? We're stuck here and only go out for essential stuff..[/youtube]

I realize the 1.8t engine bolts up to the 5-cylinder EV bellhousings. [seems to be a fact]

The 5cylinder EV engine uses a different bellhousing bolt pattern to the 4cylinder engines.

The 1.8t bolts up to the 02b EV trans because the trans has two sets of bolt holes, the inner ring for 4cylinder, the outer ring for 5cylinder.

The 1.8t does not boot up to the 02g EV Trans because it only has 5cylinder (or vr6) bolt pattern.

That sounds like a linkage problem.

Maybe waking up a thread: Has anybody determined if it is possible to swap in any of the newer I5 2.5 engines to an early I5 Eurovan? I've go both a automatic and a manual that both need motors. both were overheated and damaged.
also, someone told me the earlier 1990 era Audi 2.2 turbo could be made to fit.
Has anyone done this?
I realize the 2.2 has a shorter deck than the 2.5 AAF engine, so they will not just bold in.
