He bought life insurance base on current interest rates. The life insurance paid it's own premiums until the interest rates went down. Then he took out money against it. Then he had to start paying life insurance premiums again.

X2, I've been a USAA member since the '80s, they have always had great service & had far better pricing.

Unfortunately, they farm out their "collector car" insurance.

The last time I checked they didn't have collector car insurance. I figure if I get hit the other guys insurance can pay for it.

NO! You won't get shit from the other insurance company for your collector car!! Correct in that USAA doesn't offer their own collector car insurance. That is a specialization. Shop for that on your own (Grundy, Hagerty, American Collectors) But don't assume the claimant or adverse carrier will ever pay your car's true value. They will only pay book, which is the current "retail" value of your car. You NEED to have your own collector policy with an AGREED VALUE (NOT stated value) policy.

My daily driver was hit when parked, i was in it, have video of him hitting it and have a text from him saying he never looked when backing up. I had the car repaired in 2 weeks using my collision insurance. My insurance company is still waiting for his insurance company (GEICO) to pay them. The accident was 5 months ago.

That's a long time to wait and you will most likely need lawyer.

Sucks that happened, but I'm surprised Geico is being uncooperative. In Feb of last year, their insured backed up WITHOUT LOOKING and jammed his hitch into my grille and hood. I claimed directly through them and it was quick and efficient. Actually, I was very impressed with Geico. I even got paid for extended rental AND compensation on a diminished value claim (but it was a newer car) Maybe become a squeaky wheel? Think

I have to say the same. My wife seems to have a target on her cars. Her Cayenne had the front bumper cover literally ripped off in a parking lot and they were great. She was then rear ended a couple years later in her X5 and they stepped right up.

Both times I took it to the best (and most expensive) body shop in my area and they didn't flinch. I was even able to get the Porsche repaired without paying my deductible.

The right lawyer will. Insurance isn't a way to get out of paying for damages to another person's vehicle. Let me give an example.

You hit a car that just rolled off the new car lot. That car was purchased for $100,000. You have $25,000 liability insurance (This is the Texas minimum). Your insurance company is only liable for $25,0000. You as the car owner are liable for the rest.

lol no shit? Rolling Eyes

what I'm referring to is the person with no insurance. no house. no job on paper. you cannot get money from someone that doesn't have any. Sure, you can get a judgement. Is the judgement going to pay your bills, pay your car to be fixed? pay the layer? fuck no, and most lawyers won't even take that kind of case if they know they arent getting paid

My explanation was for the original topic of where someone has to wait to get paid. If they have insurance maybe they have something else. Most people who don't have anything don't bother with insurance. At least they used to not too. In Texas everything can be looked up by license now so maybe that has changed.

You don't even bother with those.

This is what uninsured (underinsured) motorist insurance is for. USAA told me they would not pay out replacement value but they said their uninsured/underinsured would.

I got an email from Allstate that stated in part:
As we all work together to slow the spread of COVID-19, more of us are at home and driving less, which means having fewer accidents. That's why we are announcing a Shelter-in-Place Payback for our auto customers. And, since our lives have become more digital, we are providing free identity protection for the rest of the year.

Most auto customers will get an average payback of about 15% based on their monthly insurance costs during April and May. You can get your payback faster through the Allstate® mobile app.

I'm paying $369. every 6 months to Allstate. According to their average payback of 15% I should get: $369 / 6 = $61.50 x 2 months = $123 x 0.15 = $18.45
My bank account received a $10 credit from them about 10 days ago, which is 8.13% -- quite a bit less than 15%. Not that I need the extra $8.45 to keep me from starving. Maybe they are paying back month by month, which means they're refunding 16.26%. Who knows? Think

Yikes....Geico is 15% of your entire renewal....My premium is about $2100 (and change) for 12 months for my 4 cars and I am getting back 15% of that ($355.00)
