My 61 tank had the vent on the filler neck. We made it a -6 when the tank was new. I did a stainless pig tail and vented it down to the ground _________________ 1961 Ragtop, Autocraft 2783cc for street/strip 10k miles and counting...230.84 HP to the wheels thru Muffler 13.4 to 1 on E85

If any fuel sloshes into that vent it will get trapped at the bottom of the pigtail. It will not take much to block off the air from passing, just like a plumbing p-trap. |

When I fit a tank, I don't fit those in tank screens on the end of the pipe. Let a good filter do the job.
I fitted a CB return to tank fitting as an outlet. Granted, mine is a return to tank system but you could block one of the ports and just use it as an out let. It enables me to use a 13mm barb fitting and 13mm pipe to feed the pump. There is a filter before the pump so very little restriction before the pump takes over. Fuel cap is vented 13mm too.

I welded a -8 fitting to the filler neck similar to King, but used a Jaz roll over valve.

Hey Jp what's the fuel ratio with WOT at the end of the track. Running out of fuel at the end will show it go super lean on the gauge. |
I made a mistake when I only answered your question with just the 1 answer. I should have also mentioned that its not just at the end of the track in 4th gear, its in every other gear also starting at 4k like clockwork as its a carb tuning issue, not fuel supply to carbs or venting. But it was cool never the less to get some ideas from you, ivkings and Hotstreet
Every gear goes like this:
idles 13:1 to 2500rpms then 11-12:1 mains(170 with F2) to 4k and airs 13.8-14:1(1.7) from 4k and up.
My 4k up is lean, but it started at 15.8 when I first put the wideband on and I worked the airs down from 2.0 to 1.7 |

Thanks David, I will give those F11s a try.
Hotstreet, I had 36 vents in before, and went to 38s and it really liked those. Has the same bottom end as the 36s but pulls even harder above 4500 with the 38s. I have notwanted to try 40s unless i get more cam, and something larger then my current 1 5/8 exhaust. Worried I might lose some streetability. what say you? |

Had our #3 Child just a few hours ago. Esther Paull is healthy and doing well. When we found out she was gonna be a girl, we thought of one of the most inspiring books in the bible for women(while also hoping she will someday inspire others), and also thought maybe, just maybe, she might join the ranks of wonderful women that have contributed to High Performance VWs in some capacity. |

This is where a lot fall short of not using any type of a/f gauge. If you don’t know, you don’t know. You can’t tune what you don’t know.
Glad all is well with the baby. Congratulations! |
