I've scored a good deal on a case/crank/rods/P&C all set for 94mm. I already have a Vintage Speed 1.5" sport exhaust and dual Kads. I need to decide on what cam to use and whether to stick with the Kads or try different carbs. For heads, I'm pretty set on Steve Tims ported super stock, but also open to suggestions. Sorta thinking Web 218 for the cam, but interested in what everyone has to say.

Scat c45 with 1.25?
I'm gonna build a 1915 for a mate with Mofoco Rasser heads, looks like it'll be getting the c45.

c45 may be a little too hot.

Sorry just re read and saw the super stock heads.

I think Brian E will have some nice suggestions, and would likely be able to supply some very good heads too.

Haha. Thanks Luke.

I have posted this before, but one of my favorite engines was a 1915cc with Kads. I drove it for about 5000 miles before I sold the car to a buddy in Denver. He beats the snot out of it frequently.

Here is my combo.
Used case, fully machined.
CW 69mm crank
stock rods
AA 94mm P&C's, with my cylinder prep.
My 37x32 heads, [email protected]" and 28", 63cc port volume.
web 218/119, advanced 2deg.
aluminum push rods, solid shafts
9.0cr., .040" deck
AA 1 1/2" sidewinder and muffler
40mm kads, 32mm vents, welded and ported aluminum manifolds, scat linkage

Super simple, and people don't suspect much from the Kads, but it works good.

I want to do the next version of it, and it will be about the same, but it will have a web 163 w/1.3 rockers, 9.2cr, china 40 IDF's with 32mm vents, and a VS muffler. It should make it pull a bit higher RPM, and hopefully be just about as strong down low.

Brian

Brian,

That is EXACTLY my engine, but replace the Kads with a single 44mm IDF with 30mm venturis. I currently have 40x35 heads, but am exchanging them for heads nearly identical to what you describe. Even down to the degrees of cam advance, that is my setup.

I have been very happy with it, it sees the 5800RPM limiter pretty often. I have stock rockers with Porsche 911 adjusters and it is a very quiet engine. I am the type that likes to play around so I don't build the same thing twice, but I could almost be convinced to build another one of these.

Based on our intakes, I'm probably making a little under 100hp and you're probably making a bit over 100.

I'd recommend dual Weber IDF or better yet dual dellorto 36 mm or 40 mm dual carbs

X2.
However, the ubiquitous panchito´s would also be a good choice due to the nice fast ports.
Also, I fully agree on the work needed in/on the manifolds. Most of the Kad manifolds on the market are awfull out of the box. I once picked up 17 hp and 20 Nm torque on a customer´s 2007 Kadron fed engine just by welding, porting and correcting his Empi manifolds. He said that if he did not know better he would think I had built him another engine.
Dual 40 Idf or Dell will definitely give you a smoother lower rpm band, but Kads work too, and are simpler.

I don't feel this will hijack the thread. If 45's were sitting on the shelf screaming out to be used what jetting and venturi's? Or would these be too large?

Ok so sounds like the kads with web 218/119 split duration would be a good fit with this 1915.

For heads, should I stay with stock size or go with 40x35.5?

Depends on which 40 x 35´s. Like I wrote above, the Panchito´s were a good option. At 9-1 it will rip.

Looks like they can be ordered with port matched manifolds for IDFs. Nice.

yes, and this will be an awesome combo...but of course no kadrons then (which I would suggest getting rid of anyway Very Happy )

That was probably inevitable anyways.

Sure, Kadrons can work well too. Don´t be so affraid of those. They just need to be trtimmed properly like (almost) everything else

For all round driveability and overall performance, the Panchito´s
For all out power, the Tims stage I (These also work well on larger displacement engines)
For best cooling (after some work put into them for correcting the air bypass and deflector) the 042.
And btw. ALL aftermarket heads need to get the deflector plate installed. I don´t know why they have left it out (?) - Price most likely.
