Alright, so I'm sure many of you have done the process of breaking in a new or rebuilt engine. Basically I would like to hear everyone's personal process, or at least what one would recommend. I want this to be a sort of reference page for those who want some general information on the subject (information I plan to glean as well, but hey). I understand that everyone's situation is different and thus the process can vary. If you want to tell your break in story go ahead. If you have advice for people who might need it, wonderful!
Thanks folks!
Some questions to jumpstart:
- How many miles until first oil change?
- How many miles until first valve adjust?
- What are the major things to watch out for, or big do's/don'ts
(sorry if there's another thread like this)

20 minute cam break in at about 2k-2500 rpms
check for leaks
go to my favorite local hill
do a few pulls up said hill
then do it again
drive it like i stole it with lots of upshifting/downshifting
dump oil at 250-300 miles, check valves
drive it for 1k check valves dump oil again
after that 2500 miles and recheck the valves. after that 3k intervals from there _________________

You can hire someone to sue your mechanic if break-in doesnβt work well, but you might not have a Lego to stand on. _________________ πΊπΈ πΊπΈ πΊπΈ πΊπΈ πΊπΈ πΊπΈ πΊπΈ π π π |
