Good question and good to know someone's making them. I didn't know this before I rebuilt my windows, and opted to convert my 59 Kombi sliding windows to tempered class.
Here's another question: Who's making re-pop etched SIGLA logo glass? |

Thanks, I'm stoked to see someone has produced some of it... albeit a little bit pricy. Still great to see it! |

Ronnie doesn't stock this felt currently and thus far hasn't responded to inquiry. I'm suprised that this felt isn't reproduced, it seems like a lot of very high dollar buses would have been equipped with this originally. If I understand correctly this would have been on US spec passenger buses for a few year, but it's pretty shocking to me that with all the $100k plus restorations of these buses there isn't demand enough for correct seals and people are forced to swap there bus to the incorrect type of window sliders in the current marketplace.
Are there other options in 2021 for Sigla slider glass besides swapping to the sekurit style windows with latches that go thru the glass? I'd hate to erase a unique feature of an otherwise original bus. What have others done? _________________ https://instagram.com/mr.ogpaint

You Mr Hall are so correct!! I have seen many buses with sekurit latches and the rest of the glass being sigla due to one supplier of these felts. I went as far as getting one slider glass from StacyZ just so I could use the latches and getting the felt from Ronnie back in the day.
I even had an extra set of Sekurit glass but wanted to keep those latches since they came with the bus. I still need some Sigla pop out glass and one vent wing but wanted to get it on the road. Maybe if enough people respond to this thread there will be demand for Ronnie to reproduce another batch....Good Luck! |

EIS Parts has always had them. I believe that's where Ronnie was getting them, but not sure? Website says they're temporarily closed due to a fire so that's not good...

It's only the bottom felt that's different. I used to modify them but it's been a looong time. I can't remember the details for sure but I cut off the middle fin, move it over and glue it back down. It's a PITA and probably not the best option but will work. _________________ David S |

I wasn't planning on posting these until I had a set made but since the subject has come up, here goes.
I decided to go ahead and machine my own sliders since as we know they aren't available right now. Here's they mock up. I wasn't going to try and line them with felt since only the bottom slider is unique. If there's enough interest, I would do a short run of them. I'm guessing they would be $40-50 to make it worth my time. Just so I'm being up front about it.
Anyways, here they are. I'll male the full length ones in a month or so.

I've looked at window copies. The one's I've seen here in the US I think are from S America, and not so authentic. Your best bet is from the UK or polish some good old German ones. I've had a lot of luck with Cerium polish . A lot of work but worth the effort. I save about 4 out of 6 I acquire(too scratched up), drop the frames in simple green for a few days to soften the rubber, then blast them. soak again in phosphoric acid, sand, prime & paint. It's work but I like German metal. Most trailer queens are re-pop parts, I just can't do it. _________________ kaiser kills kids.com |

The glass that StaceyZ makes up in Canada is great quality. I have used it, and it looks good, and appears to be correct when installed. The vent window and the slider window both have exposed edges which bubble like crazy on original glass, and repro glass will do that as well over time. It is near impossible to find ones which only have minor bubbling.

Well, here we go again.....felt channels for Sigla base sliders/ no hole in the glass for the pinch latch are longer in stock. Does anyone have 3 or 4 sets? _________________ Transporter Restorations
