|
I started collecting parts to switch from center Weber progressive to dual carb. However I do not found lot of information on this setup. Ratwell has a great page on dual carbs but it covers more the '72 setup which seems quite different.
I take some pics do you see something missing. I think I can find elbows et hoses pretty easily.
What is suppose to be there?
Is the seal to the air snout available somewhere?
Thanks! _________________ SEB

The EGR crossover pipe went there, you can fabricate some blanking plates and gaskets to seal them up.
I don't recall seeing the seals available new, good used ones turn up now and then, a big fat O ring, or a slice of large diameter radiator hose also works if you can't find the real deal.
The elbows are available from many vendors, if you weld a nipple into the crossover pipe for the aircleaner valve you can avoid buying the oddball RH elbow. Or put a nipple in the EGR block off. _________________ Rust NEVER sleeps and stock never goes out of style.

Ok thanks! No bits missing? Then I just need to have these rebuilt and swap them. _________________ SEB

I run a svda right now, will have to check for the exact number. I may also have one with the avance/retard can in the part bin, again will have to check numbers.
Which distributor is the best with this setup? _________________ SEB

The DVDA works well with those, but it has to be the correct model to match the base numbers on the carbs. A SVDA can be made to work, but you will likely have to modify the throttle plates (close up the bleed holes) to get it to idle below 1500 RPM. _________________ Rust NEVER sleeps and stock never goes out of style.

The central idle circuit you have is incomparable with the manifolds. That is a ‘72 central idle circuit crossover tube, for the short ‘72 manifolds. You have the tall 73/74 manifolds. Things will not long up because the drivers side carburetor sits higher on the 73/74 manifolds. The inlet to the later manifolds is more horizontal than the earlier ones which angle downwards a bit…and again, the port on the later manifold is slightly higher than the 72 short manifolds.
Find a 73/74 crossover tube to use with your 73/74 manifolds. _________________ 1800 Type 4 Berrien 295

Yes!!
I take the numbers on the carb
021 129 031N
021 129 032N
I think a saw a page somewhere with information about distributor numbers versus carburetor, but could not find it now. Is it in the Bentley?
What this numbers tell you? _________________ SEB

From what I found the carbs numbers match a '74 year bus. Engine code is CB. Any idea what distributor number I am looking for? _________________ SEB

VW 021-905-205N (Bosch 0231 181 005) is what it should pair with, but as I mentioned earlier you can also use a SVDA with a few mods to the carbs. _________________ Rust NEVER sleeps and stock never goes out of style.

The port on the RH carb is for the EGR, if you aren't running that system cap the port. _________________ Rust NEVER sleeps and stock never goes out of style.

Can someone tell me what is the hardware needed for the throttle cable?
How the connecting rod is attached to the barrel on the linkage? Also if there is a spring on the end of the connecting rod, where is the other end attached to?
Any pics? _________________ SEB

That seal was the hardest part for me to find. In fact, restoring three sets of these carbs I never did find the proper seal.
Also hard to find is the little three-way rubber hose join, shown in this crappy photo from a deleted ad.
