I also searched and will ask in this same thread. After research, I did not see these exact curtains on any other so-42's.
Are these curtains standard westy /OG curtains?
I find it hard to believe these did nto come with the bus as it was pushed into the woods in 79 and there was not any PO mods done to it. It came with all but two curtains. I have a wanted ad for two cargo door curtains and have had zero responses. I may switch to another pattern from a fabric shop.

I would like see pics of the rest of the bus! _________________ 1967 SO42 |

Digging up an old thread, anyone have a couple of these clips for securing the bungee on the long wall they would be willing to sell.
Thanks. _________________ RPM=(MPH*336* (R&P*4th*1.26))/Tire Diameter in inches |

Dusting off the thread.
I just got a new set of curtains from the above link! Excellent quality and great vendor to deal with.
The PO hacked in some bay bungees and drilled holes four inches higher and on every window. Just wish people would do things right the first time.
Any ways, I'm searching for bungee retaining clips:) if anyone has any they could part with please PM me!!
Borrowed picture from above!!

Sewing this weekend and somewhat perplexed. I have a roll of material I purchased from Glenn years ago. Then I saw his ad for complete curtain set and bought the set to save time as I now have an entire second interior set of everything but a spare icebox for a future project therefore no loss. My spouse made a template of the most difficult front cab curtain with slit for the pillar prior to my set purchase and not only does the cab set not have the pillar slit but it is longer than Xavier's template.
Glenn's set measures 54 centimeters in height and Xavier's is 43 cm. Also the rear is 39cm in height and Xavier's is 44cm not to mention the width is 12cm shorter. I'm trying not to nitpick this Westy to death as it will never be complete but trying to keep her as original as possible and prevent as much deviation as I can most especially regarding unobtainable items can become somewhat of an obsession. I'm not near the bus today but I will lay them on the rods to see if I can live with any deviations before we sew in the slits and the ribbon for the sliders. If anyone has an OG set can they chime in and let me know their height of the rear and front?
I have yet to figure out how to post images via ipad therefore pics to follow.

Super hard to find although they do come up occasionally. These work from Home Depot as a temporary solution:
I used them until I was able to find some originals. _________________ RPM=(MPH*336* (R&P*4th*1.26))/Tire Diameter in inches |

I take it these are the holes for the front curtain snaps?
There is metal filler behind them, and when searching for pics I could only find one, posted by major woody, looks like it also has metal filler behind it.
Here are mine:
My holes are drilled so that they exit into the door seal channels, so if I affix this snap, I will have a screw end protruding into the door seal, is this correct? Or is there a different way to attach?

Screw into the seal isn't the correct location. _________________ Your Vanagon sucks, Stop waving at me.

Never removed straps on my original '67 SO-42. They are facing the way they hold the curtains back from getting hung up when you get out, too.

| Surfndoc sent me a pic of his last night, I went out to my bus and was able to locate my original holes hidden by bondo with a dental pick and flashlight. Glad I asked first and didn't drill the upper hole. So any ideas what that upper hole is, with the metal behind? |

Anyone have the distance between the holes the bungees screw into? I have materials to make them but the bus is away getting work done. Thanks! _________________ Darren

Jacek in Poland makes an excellent reproduction of these two clamps as well as an awesome reproduction of the entire bungee cord kit ready to install.

It has been a while since I posted on this site. Our 1964 SO33 restoration is coming along well. The main things left to do are the curtains and the rear upholstery. We bought the correct fabrics from Belgium - yellow or gold for the curtains and plaid for the seats - and want to begin cutting and sewing very soon.
Regarding the SO33 curtains, I can't find much on TheSamba or elsewhere with detailed information about this topic. I did look through the above thread on the S044 curtains. Did I miss any threads on this? Can anyone tell me whether the details (other than the fabric and color) are much the same for the SO33 as for the SO44? In what ways do the curtains differ?
Thank you for any help. |

Hi,
Are there tiebacks used on the rear curtains of an SO42 and if so, how and where are they mounted?
Thanks

No tiebacks... just the gray bungie cord. _________________ RPM=(MPH*336* (R&P*4th*1.26))/Tire Diameter in inches |

Maybe I wasn't very clear.
I was talking about the curtains on the deck lid where I have 2 rails, 1 above the window and 1 under, it's a '65 SO42.
I was wondering if originally there are tiebacks there.
Thanks |
