I have 66 that i have drop spindles on a adjustable narrowed beam, the passenger lower ball joint is rubbing the rim if i lower the car to much or if i hit a good bump going down the road. The driver side has no issues with this. I don't know what would cause this or how to fix this. Any ideas? Think

I ended up doing both on mine..

All I had to do was grind a bevel into the front side of the lower leading edge of the lower trailing arm. That and the 3/8" spacers did the trick.

Take the spindles to a machine shop and have the lower ball joint taper machined about 1/8" more and problem solved.

Pete has a good idea if you have a reputable machine shop around...

This issue seems to be heavily depended on who made the wheels. Its hit or miss between brand and styles of wheels on if people have clearance problems or not.

From my experience the 3/8" spacers will just nearly take care of the entire problem. I still had a little bit of scratching when hard cornering hard on my car, and that's why I busted out the grinder on the trailing arms. Before people start freaking out about grinding on things, I only took a little bit of material out to chamfer the lower leading edge of the trailing arm. I'm only talking an 1/8 of an inch or less.

Clearance it yourself using a dissembled ball joint shaft in an electric drill and some valve grinding compound

Do you know you just responded to a 13 year old post. I'm sure the original poster has figured out a solution by now.
