I don't care but I think I am the only one on the east coast that likes this stuff. I have been into it since around 1994 when I started listening to a show in Sacremento called Ambiance hosted by David X. I am always looking for new stuff. There are no stations here that play it. My lastest stuff is Above and Beyond and Royksopp. I love Blank and Jones, Hybrid, DJ Shadow and more. Anybody have some suggestions on more cool artists. _________________ Why buy what you can build.

If you are looking for new stuff check out internet radio stations.
www.live365.com (arguable the biggest internet radio station provider) has tons of music, techno/trance too. Particularly, I listen to a station there called "Techno Prisoners" for trance.
Armin Van Buuren's radio show in Denmark is VERY VERY VERY good. The only way I have found it so far is through his website. But it cost around $60-70 to listen to the stuff for a year.

Yeah man, now your talk old school. Moby back in 94-95 and T99. Remember 808 state? Armin Van Buuren is good stuff. I download it using MP3 rocket. Same as Limewire. Chicane is good too. I love the Tom Jones/Chicane "stoned in love". I'll have to check out Benny Benassi.

That's the same sort of stuff that I was/am into back then and now (Moby, Prodigy, Orbital, etc). Anybody remember these guys and/or the whole Vicks Vaporub inside of your dust mask?

| We live in the top twenty and country belt. Radio stations here just plain suck. AOL radio has several different alternative stations. Industrial, gothic, trance just to name a few. I've finally found some decent music. I really like VNV Nation and The Clan of Xmox. |

Actually, Moby back in '92 was even better, but only his stuff remixed
by Jam & Spoom.
Check out Moby Go remixed by Jam & Spoon!

Ive been into electronic music for as long as I can remember. My life
has been a journey from one electronic sound to another. I constant
progression of sounds, never really clinging onto one as most people
do for their whole life. Always living in their past, holding onto what was.
My ear first got intune with it during the 70's as a young kid listening to
Pink Floyd, Yes, and other electronic influenced Rock Bands. I was always
intrigued by it and always looking for new sounds.
Then in the early 80s as the synthesizer influenced many forms of music
I was into bands like Human League, Gary Numen, New Order, karftwerk
& Depeche Mode. Also into Freestyle, Miami Bass and other forms of
dance music that were techno oriented. Planet Rock by Africa Bambata
(which was the a Sample from Kraftwerk btw). Cybrotron's Clear which
is actually one of the very first techno records, Recorded by Detroits
own Juan Atkins. One of Techno's pioneers.
In the late 80's I progresed into harder sounding industrial bands
like Caberet Voltaire, Front 242, Front Line Assembly, Skinny Puppy,
early Ministry, early Revco (Revolting Cocks), and many many others.
During the late 80's the Industrial Clubs starting playing Acid House,
which sounded alot like Industrial, but without any of the Harder vocals
that we had become accustomed to. I didnt know at the time that these
songs were part of a new music movement going on in Europe. I just
accepted that they were a little different but similiar to what I was already
listening to at the time.
By 90 or 91 I was getting really bored with Industrial. Nothing new and
exciting was coming out and I was tired of just listening the to same old
bands that I was listening to for the last 4 or 5 years. Thats when I
stumbled into a club in January of 91 playing music I had never heard
before. It wasnt acid house and it wasnt techno. I later found out that
it was the new sound from the UK, called Hardcore. It was a combination
of Breakbeats with piano and baleric vocals.
By late 91 I was going to another club that introduced me to the sounds
of Tribal, early Trance, and early Progresive House. By 92 I was deep
into these 3 sounds and started DJ'ing these sounds as well and later
in 92, threw my first Rave. I was a rave promoter from late 92 til late 97
when the scene was being destroyed by the powers that be. Durng those
years, I got heavily into Trance. Especially, German Trance. Stuff from
Sven Vath, Jam & Spoon, Energy 52, Cosmic Baby, Age of Love, and so
on... my favorite DJ's back then were Kimball Collins, Andy Hughes,
Sasha, Digweed, Paul Van Dyke, and Sven Vath.
From 98 until 2001 I kind of hung onto the trance. It eventually got played
out and by 2001 I was inspired by a ElectroClash, Electrowave and all the
other 80's influenced electronic music that was coming out.
From 2002 until now I also got into House Music, which was now deeper
and darker then it had been in the eerly 90's. Tribal House, Electro
House, & Tech House are the sounds that I listed to up until now. DJ's like
Steve Lawler, Hernan Cattaneo, Satoshi Tomiie, James Zabiela, Austin
Leeds and Chus & Ceballos.
All I can tell you is this. Always look for new music. Dont except what
they give you to listen to and dont ever let the grass grow under your
feet and end up listening to one style of music for the rest of your life.
I never could understand how some people can listen to the same exact
music their whole life. To be stuck with the same set of songs their whole
life. How very boring that must be for them. And how very sad as well. _________________ www.DaytonaWinterJam.com

i found the pursuit of good electronica to be intensely frustrating and i gave up the search in 2000. it was always for the most part underground, none of the names were ever recognisable, and i would say that about 30% of the music i bought was actually playable. The rest was absolute dogshit.
the only name that comes to mind that i had any kind of consistent success with was sasha and john digweed. I simply do not have the time and inclination to listen to so much shit in order to get a scrap of music that i can actually move to. leave that to the DJs in the clubs.
electronica is ancient history to me. |

I have heard most of the names dropped here, but none have really been my "thing" I am more into the psytrance side of things and even then there are only a few songs that float my boat. I can even hate a song done live at this or that concert but love the previous or next time they do it. Music is all about what the artist puts into it. If I get that "orgasmic rush from a track I am listening to, I know that it contains a little of the artists heart and soul (Same goes for All music I listen to) I probably got into it listening to kraftwerk and Raymond Scott (Soothing Sound's for baby Vol 1-3) _________________ In his house at R'lyeh dead Cthulhu waits dreaming |
