Does anyone know if vw advertised in national geographic in the 50's or 60's? Or what magazine did they advertise in? I run a auction house and have started collecting old split ads. just trying to narrow the search. Any help would be great!! _________________ 67 double cab

Time, Life, etc etc.
The Life ads are cool since the mag is a large format and occasionally VW would run a center page ad that is double-wide. _________________ Jack

i noticed the last itme i was at the vw dealer that they had some of those older ads enlarged and framed on the walls.
....but i'm sure you can't get your hands on any of those.
i have a small collection of those ads.
you can usually find them at vw shows.
i have even bought some at the nsra street rod show. |

I have a couple of large format posters that had a companion ad in a magazine. I think these are the ones VW has been reproducing and are hanging in their show rooms. The original posters are of much better print quality than those in the VW show rooms today.
I bought 3 or 4 of the originals on ebay a year ago or so... all for cheap ~$20 or $30 each, maybe even cheaper. _________________ Sounding like a broken record as to why You should be measuring protein during harvest in order to better your agronomic practices. |

The auction house I run in Fl. is overloaded with 50's and 60's magazines, these are primarily for my newly started collection not for re-sale, however I am coming across alot of beetle ads that I do not really want or need that I may end offering up on the samba at some point? The time involved in searching boxes of mags page by page is a nightmare! Than again hunting treasure is the life. thanks for the responses!!! _________________ 67 double cab

There is a back issue of "The Old Bus Review" put out by NEATO that lists magazines and the dates they published VW ads. Can't remember if NG was one of them but the list seemed pretty comprehensive. |

I've had some Life and Look magazines for sale on here for about a year & 1/2 I've sold some but still have tons left
I thought they would have sold better as there are several threads like this one with people asking and stating they are looking for them, these are the whole magazines and not just an individual ad.
Here is a list of the ads - date - and magazine I did a few years ago that might help in your search, I like to print them out and take them with m when I go hunting.

I also still have lots of ads for sale.

I do not think you will find an advertisement for a Volkswagen in an issue of National Geographic from the 50's nor the 60's.
But you do find some photos:
Search "geographic" in the gallery. |

considering it's a split window Beetle behind it I would say so as well. If fact you can tell from zooming in on the photo that it is.... Very cool. The other 2 beetles are later though. Pretty sure I see peanuts on both of them. _________________

The beetles do have peanuts. The crazier thing is the early squareback on the right center. Looks like it has small painted reflectors. _________________ Frank
