What brand are you using ?
I still need to get a battery for the bus .
Is there one available that also fits the OG battery post cover ?
If I could I would like to get a Interstate , they seem to last a long time . _________________ If you don't like the way I drive , stay off the sidewalk . |

i'm using the chep autozone 6v. it is too tall to use the og strap, so i am going to fabricate a longer strap using a gas tank hold down strap, and another battery hold down strap that is rusted off where the bolt would go. _________________ WANTED:

I bought my 6 volt battery at Tractor Supply and the strap fits. The battery before it came from Auto Zone and the strap also fit. _________________ It is never too late to have a happy childhood! |

I run whatever I get for free. Somehow I just end up with them.
According to consumer reports, the interstate batteries suck. _________________ You can't spell sausage without "USA"! |

For my 12v cars, I use optimas, except for my 911 race car, which uses a tiny little PC680
For my '56 ghia, I have one of the 'vintage' batteries that WW sells. For my '52 bug and '59 ambulancer, I have an autozone 6v battery _________________ -Thom

Two WalMart brands. Main one is higher CCA, secondary is less (need to change that one to Marine battery) _________________ Dave Brooks

I have seen the larger 6V batteries around here ,and I got one in the beetle .
But I dont see smaller one that would actually fit the top cover correctly and also be able to use the metal strap , I will most likely get a Interstate , I have always had good results with them , they have a distributor close by also .
Could someone please tell me what the measurements are for the OG size bus battery ? _________________ If you don't like the way I drive , stay off the sidewalk . |

my 12v bus has the same optima red top that I have been using for the last ten years.
in my ghia, I put the 6v red top optima on its side, and put the battery lid on it with a modified strap.
someday I will get around to stashing an optima somewhere and putting a VWOA battery in the stock location as a dummy for show.
I don't like battery acid in my vintage cars...

The Interstate 19L is the correct size/shape for 6V vehicles. |

Sounds good to me too. This thread came along at the right time since I was wondering what the correct size battery I needed. Thanks Greg.
