dude, this is a awesome freaking story.

Your rock man, people rag on me for customizing mine, but its all about what YOU want out of it and what YOU invision YOUR bus being in the end.

Thats why you bought it and you accomplished your goal!

If I don't have anything nice to say I won't say anything at all. For now.

I thought my bus could be a little unstable in winds at times. I can't even imagine...

ghostwagen: Do you have a thread somewhere that describes what was done to that bus? Lift, tires, axles, etc.. Maybe you'll drive it to the ABC meeting? I'd go for sure, just to see it sitting there with all them splits.. ...Thanks.

that guy is an A-Hole in my mind.

1) VW's are like cardboard boxes - ??????????????????????????? Buses are TANKS. Ask me where I've driven them....

2) $50 to take it to the crusher???????????? A-Hole

Sorry - what's that? Nothing nice to say, don't say anything? Sorry. A-Hole.

Look at it this way, people like them make our bays worth more. Although it is a waste.

He could have sold all four DOORS and the engine hatch for $150 bucks let alone the seats, steering wheel, and what all other hardware....... no wonder he's broke. Use a few tools and he could have pulled of $500 or more worth of parts and stored it behind the couch until it sold. I feel bad for him, but not without recrimination... Laughing

I wish I had more info on the first bus! All I know is what you guys know....

Even if the dude sold it to the crusher for $50 bucks (I think I threw up in my mouth when I read this) his ability to lift this bus is truly an amazing sight to behold Very Happy

Somehow, somewhere, it needs to be brought back from the dead!

I wonder......If the wrecking yard gave him the $50 and took it home and somehow Harvey was saved from a brutal ending? Wouldn't you think that even the wrecker would be as equally impressed as us?

Here's another few photos of raised buses, I prefer the stock VW suspension.

My family has been setting Kombi's up for off road especially beach work for decades. Bay windows are best as the chassis under a Split isn't strong enough and you can bend it(we've done it a few times LOL) front end in reloacted in the chassis and the rear is adjusted on the torsions and modify the stops etc etc. cutting the guards on the rear has to be done in accordance to the size of the tyre chosen. All these cars pictured are of members of my family and all still run type 4's and modified Kombi boxes some with locker diffs. Split screen panel van has bay window running gear under it and has a Renault 5 speed gearbox with a 2.0L type 4 pushing it. goes just about anywhere and further than you could put a 4WD.
