Most of the threads I've found address the issue of the throttle cable at the gas pedal up front. I'm dealing with the issue of the linkage at the carb. Just trying to get this thing back together to run.

I've got a 28 PCI carb on a stock 36 horse engine. (1959 bus).

I'm missing the pieces/parts that provide the proper linkage at the carb. My fan housing does not have a tube through it for the throttle cable, but the workshop manual for '59 shows one (see diagram below).

I'm missing the cable spring and the spring sleeve.

Anyone seen any linkage kits for sale with these items? Does anyone know the size of the sleeve and the spring size so I can just make something up at the hardware store?

Also, how does the spring connect to the tube or fan shroud housing? does the sleeve just rest over the spring with nothing holding it?

I think I have a spring seat and I have the swivel pin. I also found an old tube, but don't know if it's from an early bus or something else.

Here are some pics...

The image of the correct set up from the manual...

The pieces/parts I'm looking for or the correct sizes...

Is this fan housing tube bus related???

I found these old springs, but they look too short and fat...

Any help on the size of the spring and sleeve is appreciated.

that tube looks like it will work.
you don't really need the spring and clip will run fine without it

You need it if you want the throttle to return to idle. Unless you have another spring in place.

Wolfsburg West sells the parts.
From:

I found:

http://www.wolfsburgwest.com/cart/DetailsList.cfm?ID=111129901

http://www.wolfsburgwest.com/cart/DetailsList.cfm?ID=111129921

Or they can also be found used, such as in the link above in the classifieds here.

For the spring, they sell a very similar spring at my local hardware store.

For $15 I would buy the OG ones. These parts are also commonly found on 1200cc Beetles if you have a boneyard near you. The only piece you'd be missing after spending $15 is the little round cap that goes over the spring housing before the end of the throttle cable, you can substitute a piece of metal with a hole and slot cut in it.

Appreciate all the good info and links. I totally missed that 'carb parts section' on the Wolfsburg site. Many thanks to all the fellow samba members.
