Well... I'm fixing some wiring on a 1970/1976 Truck (From the rear torsion bar back is a 1976 van) and i had the dash opened up to replace some lights. I noticed that the hole on the dash nearest to the passenger side is empty. The only thing behind it was a decorated piece of tin. I eventually took the plate out and pressed in a tach which is now held it with electrical tape.
But I was wondering... What is the third hole for? Did Volkswagen decide to add it for looks, or was there some accessory that fit in there. If so, than what? Thanks For Anyinfo,
James |

A clock was the option offered on Deluxe Buses. Bus Boys sells an adaptor so you can mount your tach directly to the dash without tape! _________________ "I spud therefore I yam." |

The earlier clocks were mechanical and it's true that finding a working one is hard unless someone has rebuilt it. The later ones are quartz based and I've found many at the junkyard that ticked over when 12v was applied. No need to pay more than $40 for one on eBay. _________________ '78 Westfalia CDN

Actually three styles of clocks. The third style encorporates the heater timer in its face. Those are rare. _________________ "I spud therefore I yam." |

I thought of putting a tach in the empty clock hole. I decided on changing to a 914 guage cluster.I have a ring from Busboys that holds a 3 1/2in tach in the clock hole.If any one needs it I'll send it COD to anyone who wants it. _________________ Give a man a fish and he knows where to get fish.Teach a man to fish and you loose a customer. |
