| I just purchased used 4 tab w emblem from samba member and it is about 6mm to large. my hood is 2 bolt and has 4 tab slots, so was there 2 sizes of hood emblems, if so what one do i search for? any info appreciated. |

| Well, you've got an early 4 tab hood for certain. The emblem looks correct too. There is a shadow on the hood from the previous emblem, is that not lining up? Sometimes you have to bend the tabs slightly to get them to line up again. Just be careful, they break off easily. |

| Is the emblem an aftermarket or original? That could be part of the problem. I've never had an original not fit. |

Asking cause I don't know... is that a 55 hood or a later hood? I thought '55 hoods had the fifth bolt hole for the hood prop and didn't share a hinge bolt. Or am I thinking of a 54 hood? If this was the case would that make a difference in the fit of the emblem? Meaning was as '56 hood emblem different?

| i just buy emblem but think original, does anybody have dimensions of original emblem on 55 or earlier ? i have zwitter siting next to oval and it same hood dimensions but no w emblem also. |

you noticed where old dust is from w emblem, im sure past owner remove before i get so i know the right emblem will fit pre 55 just not one i have. |

That's a 56-57 hood. As far as I know, there's no difference between the emblems.You are right, 54 and early 55 hoods have 3 holes on the drivers side, 3rd hole is for the hood prop. 2 bolt hinges. |

I have a 54 hood with original 4 tab. I also have an after market Four tab emblem. I'll compare them for you later today to see if there is any difference as far a size.

Is this a mid '61-'62 emblem? I think the originals were two-piece construction and you are missing the bottom piece with the three pins.
