|
|
Need to connect the low coolant sensor.. No oem harnesses, needing to identify which color wires to connect to in that lil black box in the front, left of the bay. Its a 90 auto mv originally the 2.1..
thought it was the blue/green striped wire but nay..
Ugggh here is where you all can laugh an say rtfm..
All this long game project work, lost the installation paper.. Vc closed at the moment.
Its a single pin sensor atop the tank used in my alh tdi build.
Being my van is fully drivable now.. Getting ridda this blinking light would enhance my calm...

Any ideas are welcomed! |

There are two wires to connect. The brown is ground and is connected to one of the tanks mounting bolts with a ring terminal. The other connect to the sensor at the top. _________________ Patrick Brown

Thanks, had just run blue, green to the primary lead no ground, assuming chassis ground was good enough.. I'm on it..
Hopefully no more blinking dash light..
Thanks! |

Oddly, for a time, that light went out.
It came back on. The ALH outputs from the FastForwardCA harness are correctly signalling the coolant meter on the odo..
But the blinking coolant low led is still trippin. That's blue green patched to the tank lead on the top, and a ground to the side of the tank, bolted down and grounded to the brown lead in the box.
mmmm.
but it sure does drive very nice. I took a buddy from Seattle/Eastside to i-90 seattle, a range of city driving, and busted out to the Alpental Ski area.. all freeway while datalogging VCDS.. and charting.. its so lean... and clean..
And it whistles.. I have a boostvalve for it, and was geeking out on the fine tuning.. I'm 500 miles on this build now..
Pesky led light.. would be nice to have some confidence in that circuit.. its even soldered! |

You might want to look at the low coolant controller. It looks like a relay and is installed at relay space #3 in your fuse panel for 86 newer. You might have a bad controller circuit. _________________ Patrick Brown

Thanks for that suggestion Pbrown!
I did a search, and found, https://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=657993
That article seems to diagnose an earlier model, but similar.
Glad for the direction! |

Alright, I'm happy to say..
I keyed on the ignition, see the led flashing..
I grabbed the #3 module, and wiggled it..
No more light.
Problem solved
Thanks again! |
