OK this my "BUS" engine 1776 with double Dells DRLA 36, it has worn-out brazilian bosch 009 dist. so I need to get the new dist.
the choices are bosch 034 used in good condition (cheap) , used 010 in good condition, and brand new Mallory HD with single point, after search the forum and my eyes get tired from the screen, seems the vaccum advance is the choice but before I decide I need input which one is best for my engine, the engine just fresh rebuild with new 69 crank,90,5 cyl, and new heads and cam.
I cant wait to drive but first I have to chose the dist.
Thanks. |

If you already have the 034 and 010, i'd try them both and see which one you like better. _________________ Glenn

I have a 1776 with 36DRLAs in my bus. I had a mildly tweaked 009 in it for awhile, and it wasn't terrible like you would imagine but it wasn't fabulous either. I picked up a good 034 at the swaps so I cleaned it up and installed it. There was a noticable drivability improvement with the 034, it just seems a bit smoother all around. I can't say much about MPG figures, my around town MPG seems about the same and I haven't been on a real long distance freeway trip since I've installed it to see how it might fare there. I expect it would be at least a little better. You might as well try to take advantage of the vacuum advance, especially in a heavy bus.
I don't have an 010 so I can't comment on it.
I also have an 019 sitting around, but I never have picked up the required parts to finish it (rotor, cap, points - two piece?). I also have a non-vacuum Unilite I bought secondhand, and I even bought the grey/grey springs for it, and... the module doesn't work _________________ 1963 Manx copy
