2 reflectors, one under each taillight.
55-57 are "small diamonds".
You want reflectors, not big taillights |
i have to ad to this, my mostly original (non bd, july?)55 lux had 2 reflectors still on it and both were the large diamond Frese. allthough this is only 1 bus, im pretty sure they were original. _________________ www.thebustransfer.com

Paul- I don't have the measurements. That Bus has been in Japan for a couple years now. Be patient and find the exact location before you install them and make a mistake that will have to be corrected yet again. _________________ Please check us out on Instagram at @holygrailgarage

alright- next? anyone have mounting dimensions? say from center of tail light bubble to reflector center and are they mounted directly below the taillights? |
Paul- Actually they are not symmetrically positioned and they are different from side to side. You'll need to make a template from an original reflector Bus or they might have the dimensions on dropgates.com. _________________ Please check us out on Instagram at @holygrailgarage

i recently paid $175 for a pair of super duper nice Hella reflectors (claimed to be "replacement" reflectors above). was happy to pay it considering their condition. would have paid the same for the ebay ones, but the reserve was not met. |
Looks good. I have been looking for 5 years for 2/'55 barndoor reflectors at a decent price. My bus is beat, so no need for NOS. I have some later cracked reflectors that will fill a hole for someone. _________________ ---

ok- so "technically" i need to search for the small diamond w/ the inprinted bezel? were the replacements provided through dealerships?
so- what's the deal with these?

they are NOT hella reflectors. they are glass and are nice assemblies, but they are not Hella. They look ok, and would be fine for a driver where anal originality was not the main issue. look around though, because the price fluctuates. i've seen them as low as $90 a pair shipped, to $125 shipped, all from the same guy! |

you guys are crazy, the correct way to install tractor taillights is to start from the original hole, and cut pie slices with shears and bend all the slices inward till the body of the tractor light fits. then just screw that bad boy in with a couple sheet metal screws.
i dont know why people got to insist on reinventing the wheel....... _________________ flossin, tossin, dippin, and trippin |
