No, NO, NO! Repro, as in reproduction.
Not repopduction. There is no such word as repop.
REPRO - reproduction,reproduced.
Sorry, this just bugs me. Bling.
THERE IS NO SUCH WORD AS repop. |
First off, This isn't Mensa or the Scientific Journal of Etymology.
This is a car forum where we can say what ever the hell we want, and in a way that only we understand; Our own slang, if you will.
WE can use any abreviation we like, such as NOS, or OG (New Old Stock, Original, etc.) to condense otherwise redundantly typed, longer words like reproduction (Repop)
So the next time you jump into this forum, show some couteousy and respect for hobbyists of varying levels of education and sophistication that come here to discuss their comonality in hopes of learning more about CAR PARTS, NOT Semantics, you friggin retard! |

Repop as in 'repopulation' of the old stuff with new stuff. _________________ Cootra |

That's a sweet pic. Adam West rocks. Although, pondering the image of a car on a VW site that is not a VW I think to myself—I wonder what the Batmobile would have looked like if it had been built out of a bug. Or, for that matter any type of VW. Anyone want to show off their Photoshop skillz? The gauntlet has been thrown down! _________________ 53 oval hardtop |

I don't think that anyone can blame someone for wanting to match an original part and thus making something to match it. There is a beauty and an art to true and accurate recreations. Lets face it, there isn't enough of everything to go around to restore every car out there. Some people also don't have the ability to pay for an original. Sure, maybe they should stick to super beetles, but the only crime ever committed with REPOP parts is when someone lies and tries to pass it off as original. Even worse is when they sell or try to sell it for an original part price. _________________ 53 oval hardtop |

It's a bastardisation (sp) of the word "repro". REPRO, not repop.
Maybe new parts pop up, made in china stuff.
But to discern between that stuff, which is "repro", and reproduction,...that's the fine line.
Reproduction is the guys that work hard to mimic the original look, size, feel, chemical makeup of the ...original. REPRO.

I have no problem with "re-pop"......... only with the people that make "re-pops." _________________ "What a fool believes he sees, no wise man has the power to reason away." Dobee, Dobee, Do |

I always thought of repop as re-popping, as in: new parts has been popping up again. |
