Thanks for the compliments. The link to where I bought my sliding Neal pedal mount has been redirected. I bought them from Don's Buggy in Michigan but here is a close knock off: http://www.sandparts.com/servlet/the-1048/ALONE-BAJA-BUGGY-CNC/Detail
I some times think of getting another buggy but I'm just too busy with business and my other hobbies that require far less maintenance and expense to consider at this point in time. I do miss the creative and problem solving aspect of fabricating though. |

Man riNR, Im a brand new Samba member and I just finished reading through your whole thread. And like everyone else, I was also shocked to see it go! It was like one minute "Check out this latest cool thing I did to the buggy", then the next minute was "There she goes away on a trailer". We have similar tastes and I think you did a great job making improvements to your buggy. I hope for the whole buggy communities sake, you get back into it one day. You contributed a lot to ideas and how to's that i'm sure helped out a lot of people.
Concerning these NEAL petals; I love that they are adjustable fore & aft, that would solve one of my biggest problems. Can you help me locate the petal set and adjustment track that you used? I tried a few google searches but just came up with a bunch of other petals that I didn't like as much. Also, I'm puzzled at why yours had two brake reservoirs? Is one for the front calipers and one for the back calipers? If so, my guess is so you can easily adjust the brake bias? Thanks for any help you can provide! |

Just read your thread from page 1, and gotta say I almost teared up when I seen the pic of her Driving Away!
You did a bang up job on it, and actually got me thinking about a turbo water pumper for the four seater I plan on starting next year. I got my two seater now but I'm gonna take years to build the next one so I know I do exactly what I want and I like a lot of the things you did on yours. I might borrow a few ideas! _________________ America, everybody is in too big a rush. Lay back, take a sip of tea, mow a little grass. Then if you get tired, take a nap.

So almost 2 years since I said good bye to my ride. Miss it sometimes but don't miss all the work and expense involved to keep it running.
Since it seems tabou to wish people Merry Christmas or Happy New Year I will do it in my thread and hopefully it won't get deleted again.
Thanks for the interesting reading and projects to view. |

I sure am! I've been sailing 32 times so far this year. Sailed on Friday on Lake Erie in 15 foot waves off shore and 6 footers near shore! What a rush! |

So its been a while since I sold my buggy. I have to say, I thought I would miss it but I don't miss it one bit. I was glad I owned it but I don't miss the work and expense of ownership. There's only been a handful of time that I thought it would be cool to have it but not at the cost of ownership. |

Yes I am a crazy Canadian and proud of it! If you didn't already gather that.
I can't take credit for putting that whole buggy together. The previous owner did most of it and I just put it all back together and improved upon what was there. It was so much fun while it lasted. I miss it sometimes now that it is gone, especially now that it is spring. If it would only stop raining now!!!!

Those pics are pretty cool! I could never do that....not nearly coordinated enough to even try it. It's funny that as we get older, our hobbies increase in price! That's how it goes, I guess.
Well, I wish ya nothing but the best, man! Hope ya still come back to hollar at us every now and again! _________________ I DID wash my hands....the rest is 'built-in' dirt!

It is so weird to go into the garage and not see it there, but it is nice to be able to park my van in there again. When I was making room for my van in the garage today I had the heaters humming away and the sound reminded me so much of being out there and working on the buggy.
Kind of sad and glad at the same time. Who knows maybe another one some day. For now, I'd really like to make time for more camping trips next summer and get my son into the windsurfing as that is my true passion. Here are some pictures from an epic day last summer. The pictures of me are the ones labeled "Reiner"- note the backloop pictures- nailed my first one this summer after 6 years of trying-not bad for 45 years old and a total hip replacement. I went out 42 times last summer. I have about $15,000 worth of windsurfing gear ( if I had to buy it all new) so you can see why I widdled down some of the toys. See picture link here:

I'm at a loss for words! I can't believe it's gone! I agree, I would NEVER recoup all the money I have invested in mine....if I were to sell it. Which, in a strange way, justifies me dumping insane amounts of money into mine to make it what I want. Because as long as I keep it, it's worth it to me.
I sure hope you end up with that 4 seater you talked about. I'd like to see you get back into it again, down the road! _________________ I DID wash my hands....the rest is 'built-in' dirt!

Time to relish in all the good memories! You definitely got your use out of it, not some project sittin gin the garage taking up space. Does anyone else hear 'taps' playing in the background?

The new owner pick her up today. It was so fitting as he drove away and saw that I was taking a picture that he blew his "Dukes of Hazard" air horn- how fitting.
