From looking at it briefly, it does look fantastic. I like the idea of a little more stringent rules, usernames being an actual full name, etc....great job. I was diggin' the picture posts already. |

Woo hoo! Got home from shooting a 75 at the club this evening and noticed the beta 356 forum had new traffic. I'm excited to see this new chapter unfold at the 356 Registry. I know there are several cross over VW/356 enthusiasts. Many have chosen not to subscibe to 356talk in the past due to the text only based format. I look forward to seeing new people/faces join the Registry and use this forum to help answer questions and especially share pics! You don't need a 356 to participate! Just appreciate the 356 & want to learn more about them.
I've been a member of 356 talk since I bought my 356 in 1998. Back then thesamba.com was VWPlanet.com and there was also Type2.com(similar to 356 talk - text based). A lot has changed since then and I'm glad to see this new forum.
Thank you to Brian O'Kelly, Barry Brisco, Rick Dill, Robin Hansen, Chuck House, the 356 Trustee's & of course Everett for giving us an avenue to express our opinions about this topic.
Drive 'Em!

great so we can tell our freinds now, god it's been a pain in the bum to keep quite about this for the last few months
I have to say also a huge thanks to the orginal 356 talk I think it's been a great tool and also a great way to keep intouch with each other and get questions answered. With the new way we can see in picture format better and over time will be able to search questions before we ask them and then also look back at questions you thought at the time I will wait to see the ansewer to that sounds interesting..
So why you still here.. see you over there....>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> _________________ WANTED:-

All,
The 356 Registry's 356Talk email list has been around for nearly 15
years ever since Robin Hansen started it with help from Rick Dill. It
has been a source of invaluable 356 information and camaraderie over the
years for all 356 enthusiasts. From time to time over the past few
years, discussion has occurred about changing the format of this list.
There are some who prefer a bulletin board (BB) forum style while others
prefer the immediacy of the existing email listserv. It was not a matter
of old vs. new tech, instead it was about what worked the best for the
subscribers. Unfortunately in the past, it was not possible to please
both sides on this issue.
However, I am happy to announce that you can now "have it your way".
Thanks to the Herculean efforts of Brian O'Kelly with assistance from
Barry Brisco, the 356 Registry will soon change to a system which will
incorporate a fully featured bulletin board forum with the added
capability to subscribe for email delivery. Therefore, those who want
and have been clamoring for the BB forum system with its ability to post
photos and better organize threads should be ecstatic and those who want
to keep getting email like they have been getting can still choose to do
so with minimal impact. It should be the best of both worlds.
Bill Sampson, our current list monitor, will follow up with details on
how to register for the new forum. He has included a lot of detail for
the sake of those who are unfamiliar with this type of forum as the
registration process will involve a few more steps. Those already
familiar with these types of systems should have no issues. Since you
will be able to choose the delivery method in the new system, I ask that
you please refrain from clogging up the 356Talk list debating which
method is best. It is a personal preference issue and you will have a
choice.
We ask that ALL 356Talk list members IMMEDIATELY register for the new
forum and unsubscribe from the old. We will go through a 30 day
transition period at which time the existing 356Talk listserv will be
shut down and all traffic will be in the new 356Talk BB and listserv
system.
As we move to this new and exciting phase for 356Talk, I would like to
once again acknowledge Robin Hansen and Rick Dill for all the work and
effort they put into the creation and maintenance of the original
356Talk. It has been and will continue to be the best real time
information exchange forum for the 356 enthusiast. All those who utilize
the list owe Robin and Rick a huge debt of gratitude.
Chuck House

What makes me laugh is the same situation happens world wide.. we have the same things happening here in the UK
PCGB hard core of members who so nothing wrong with anything. But what they can't see is the that the members are leaving.. the 912 section for example has gone from 120+ to 80 but I know the true figure is more like 40 as the numbers are not right as members have sold their cars years ago!!
I think your right leave them to enjoy what they have... we get on with what we need to do.. which is use modern ways to do things.. hey in 50 years time we will be getting young wipper snappers telling we are doing things wrong but that's life..
I know what's going on over on 356 reg and I say wait you might be rewarded..
Personaly I have dropped out the main clubs because of the old guard.. I have time on my side ( i hope ) and my time to help run things will come.. Then we will see who was right _________________ WANTED:-

Got the latest Registry this week. Chuck House eluded to the change and said to keep an eye out for an announcement in the near future. It would be great to see it revealed in the next 48 hrs. _________________ Call your Cunado's:
