Split Beetle are 3.00x16
Barndoor are 3.50x16
Porsche 356 are 3.25x16
If they are all marked 3.00x16 they are Split Beetle size.
I am not familiar with Opel marking and if those are original VW wheels.
Are they for an Opel vehicle?
They may be different than VW wheels, such as a different offset.
In your Opel photo above I think the lug nut hole is different than a VW wheel.
I found this thread that may have some more information on Opel wheels:
https://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=727575 |
Opel rims are in 3,00 x 16 and also in 3,50 x 16. Opel used different clips for the hub caps. VW hub caps are larger in diameter and don´t fit on Opel rims. In around 1937 there were Opel rims called "Herzloch-Felgen" (heart hole rims). The Opel Super 6 had them in 3,50 x 16. |

is that for a barndoor ? ( maybe the same for split beetle ? )
2 seems to be produced by kronpriz ( opel factory ) , the 2 other no special marking
also with vintage tire Smile ( 1956 ) |

The wheel will be kept untouched; the tyre is indeed 5.00-16

No.. not really.. Just looking at the logo. I was thinking military or fire trailer would be my best guess. The horse logo is bang on to the westfalia horse logo.. just my 2 cents. _________________ ***WANTED***

the color makes it look military surplus. BD correct specs.
In any case, please do save the Firestone Phoenix. gorgeous tire and worth saving for display. out of production for 50 yrs.
it seems as if it is a 5.00-16 though, which would be the split beetle size.
interesting that the wheel rim has what looks to be the deep square indentation at the valve, meaning it is made for use with tubeless tires. I think og BD era wheels just had a shallow recess for properly seating the tube's valve stem. _________________ Hotrods, Fords, Veedubs and Triumph Twins !

Sorry, no pics right now. But it looks exactly like an 3,00x16 bug wheel. No slots or anything else. |

Hi,
I was going through the 16's today and found an odd 3,50x16 KPZ rim. Its rivited and the vw hubcap fits perfectly. It came with other Barndoor wheels but has a slightly different offset then the other later rims. It looks more like a bug 16" offset but its denfinetly a 3,50. Its dated either 1/50 or 11/50, kinda hard to tell.
Does anybody have an idea whats up with that rim?
Thanks! |
the size would also be right for a 356 wheel? do you have any pictures of the wheel? _________________ regards
