The price you noted was for 4, not one. I got what you are saying about Chinese off brand. I found a website where others have reviewed running them on utility, boat trailers etc. All stated that they really liked them. Speed, proper inflation and weight are obvious factors in how tires hold up. At under $100 for 3 delivered I will order and provide some feedback.

This is a current Puck Tires update as of Nov. 2018, on tire availability & sources for Eriba Puck, Pan, Faun, Familia & similar trailers using the 10" rim size, as I just got some for our "new to us" 1970 Puck (used to be TJ/Amishman's Puck discussed above).

For the 145/80R10 tire size - the Kumho's noted above are NLA, as are most or all of the other ones above

There are NO trailer/ST tires available here in the USA at this time, with the low rolling resistance tread design, stronger limited flex sidewalls, & better heat resistance, etc. as needed for a trailer - versus the grippy tread & sidewall flex for good handling on a car.

While Maxxis makes excellent ST & LT tires, & they do make a 145/80R10 trailer tires for the UK/Euro market - the do not have it in the USA. Too bad, because we have Maxxis M8008 ST225/75R15 trailer tires on our bigger vintage 1960 Avion T20 trailer (sim. to Airstream), & their UE-168 LT205/70HR14 tires on our `88 Westfalia - & all are excellent tires!

So we're left with 10" auto tires as used on old school 1960's-70s Mini/Mini Cooper etc. small cars, but Tire Rack, Americas Tires & other local & internet tire sellers no longer carry that size.

Vintage tires sellers like Coker, Lucas, Universal & others do sell a somewhat reasonably priced Camac 145/80R10 auto tire for around $70+/- each, but these have a "Dog Bone" tread design which IMHO will give a pulled trailer much more rolling resistance - as compared to the more lineal tread design as shown in Amishman's post with the Kumho above (those tires are still on our Puck, so due for updating at about 10 years old, although still 80-90% tread still there).

What I found were Falken SN807 145/80SR10 tires, which have a similar linear tread design to the Kumho - & they are carried by several Mini specialists here in the USA, but they apparently mark them up a lot more to almost $300 for 3 (I'm replacing 2 + spare), than do the UK sellers.

Mini Sport USA out of the UK, which are set up at the link below to sell & ship to the USA customers (referred by my 60's Mini buddies), charged me $148 with regular UPS shipping for 3 tires, & they were here in about a week (about the same as Tire Rack, etc.).

We limped home a few weeks ago (525 mi) from buying our Puck. I stopped by the tire center and they checked the bearings, pressure & lug nuts before we left town. The only thing that happened was one flat 20 year old tire. But I had a spare 20 year old tire to get us the last 150 miles.

I seriously considered lifting the chassis 1-1/2" to accommodate 12" tires but I didn't like the idea of needing a step stool to get in and out. Nor did I like having a taller trailer to store in the garage or to tow through a cross wind. I called RecStuff.com as they carry a line of higher end trailer tires made by Kenda that are rated for 65mph. The service rep pointed out that the 12" tires that would fit in the wheel well aren't the reinforced-sidewall trailer tire. They are standard highway tires for a car. But these 8" tires are reinforced. She also mentioned at the low weight of a Puck, none of these tires were getting a workout.

That convinced me. I ordered three new 8" tires with rims. $168 delivered. I figured if the rims didn't work, at $11 each I could throw them out. But they do, though I did have to take a round file to them to enlarge the holes a bit into the center. Then I ordered new deep lug nuts from Amazon. M14 x 1.5mm are the right size for my trailer and they hold significantly better than what was there.

I think we're ready for our 200 mile trip this week!

I just completed a trip from Oregon to Colorado and back, with my 1971 Eriba Puck. I had a blowout on the left tire of the Puck. After putting on the spare, I had a hard time finding anyone who carried the same tire size that was on the Puck, so I would have a spare. I ended up buying 3 new tires, size 480X12, which are about 1 3/4 larger in diameter than the 10" original Puck wheels/tires. The new 480X12 tires fit great in the wheel well of the Puck, and ride smoother and better than the smaller original Puck tires. And there is plenty of room under the fenders for them, too. But best, they are easy to find. Les Schwab, which covers most of the western US, has them in stock, and I'm sure other dealers can easily get them, too. I highly recommend the 480X12 size tires (the 12" wheels fit the 4 lug pattern of the Puck). Better ride, more durable and worked great for flying down the freeway! I completed the last 2,500 miles of the trip on these tires and they still look and ride like brand new.

OK, I know this thread is about tires, but has anyone had to replace their Puck's wheels? My '71 has the original steel 10" wheels with 4 bolt holes, which are impossible to locate in the US. Somehow mine have become slightly warped and the tires no longer hold air. Several local tires stores (Les Schwab, Goodyear) recommend 12" trailer rims, but they are too tall for the wheel well, and boost the trailer too high. I could go with 8" wheels, but these are so small they look odd in the wheel well, and won't ride as smoothly. Does anyone know where 10" replacement wheels can be located? Thanks.

Maddy, you are wise to replace tires before your trip.

A cautionary tale to back that up; I bought mine in Southern California and brought it back to the Northwest by way of a trip thru the Southwest....a little over 2000 miles. I had a spare, but it was rather old and sketchy looking. All was well, despite the fact that this was in June and on hot pavement...about 150 miles from home, I noticed that the trailer had a bit of a list to it in my rear view, seconds later I had a sidewall blowout.
Now I am down to the crappy spare, and still 150 miles from home with an exotic european trailer on a weekend. I limped home on the spare and it took me nearly 2 weeks to locate tires that would work. I felt lucky to have gotten home, as if that had happened farther from my destination I would have blown that crappy spare for sure as well, and been totally hosed.

I ran 10" golf cart tires on my Austin MINI panel on Baja wheels. I think the 145X10 were the original size on the stock steel wheels.

I'm in the process of buying a Puck, but it has to come cross country and the older tires on it might not be up to the 3,000 mile trip if it's towed. I have been calling to find new ones, but not having any luck. Kumho discontinued the 145/80/10 size one year ago. And the fact that there are 4 lugs is also a problem. The closest size I can find is 145/80/12 already mounted and they have 5 lugs.

Anyone have any updated information to this situation?

Here is what found will be a perfect fit for Eriba Pucks. Tire Rack sells them and they are the 145/10 size like stock Puck tires were. Set of 3 delivered to me in California was only $168!

The old Honda 600 used these similar sized tires as the puck. The 145/80R10 should be a real nice and close fit. These are the only 145/10 I found in USA. No local dealers had anything. I found these on tire rack and just ordered some. Should be here Friday.

I will stick one new one up side by side with my beat to hell stock 145/10 that came on the Puck to see how close they are.
