Thanks guys. I would like to sacrifice my "back sides" safelty for vinyl.
I am thinking of children, long term wear, and rain!
I just spent 200 on detailing juice stains out of my daily... they even stained the headliner...

Hopefully someone will have the proof of "H" pattern green vinyl. Sad

My last oval was strato silver with bedford cord, so I want to try something
completely different. I hope the birth certificate has some info, could just be an Iceland green hood, although it looks like faint green in the rear shelf.

In my building sheet leatherette is mentioned, but all we found was
the green cloth with green piping showed in earlier reply's. So no vinyl.

greetings
Menno

I would like to drag out an old thread, I think my June 54 oval was Iceland green. I am waiting for my birth certificate to arrive but guess it wont confirm the colour.... I am leaning towards this colour right now!

Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

Here is my hood prop over volksworld o.g. paint feature!

I would love opinions on green leatherette. I cant find any pics of a pre 55
H pattern seats in this colour only 56-57. WW site shows a swatch of green for 53-55. Can anybody confirm that this was an option, I really want leatherette and want something different than beigh.

Thanks!

In2VWs, it's not beige/brown. It's the green A471 just behind the sample you show. My seats are only discoloured by the sun Wink But are definately green in real life. A lot more than on my pics. The real colour is closer to the ones with flash. Those without flash are made under a yellow light (bulb...) and are strangely very close to your beige sample Smile

Could you please post a pic of your A471 sample?

There are no stripes on the material. It's only one colour. The stripes you see are the grooves of the material. And it's not wool at all. A lot too harsh for this I think.

Edit : it's easier to see the shape of the cloth on this shot. Damn flash (and poor photo skills)...

It is pretty rough cord, indeed. I've never seen the brown material in real life, but from the pics I saw it looks really similar.
Here are close up pics for you to see the pattern :

You mean which colour for which beetle?
Here : http://www.thesamba.com/vw/archives/info/paintcodestype1.php

Or you can order a birth certificate from VW.

If you're asking for repro of the green upholstery correct for an Iceland Green beetle? There are no repro AFAIK. Maybe West Coast Classics makes them, but I never asked, and never saw any. Ingrid Opperman has only beige and blue cloth on the website.

Does anyone know the original colour of the carpet for Iceland green? Any sample?

like that :

This is green, not beige, but the colour of the cloth passed away a little...

But... keep the colour period correct for your car. If it's a reed green year, paint it reed green. If it's iceland green, then go for it!
