100 mph = over 160 km/h in an old bus with a 36hp based engine. Now that would be something! _________________ '75 SB 1303 2,4ltr T4 turbo: 10.58 @ 129.9mph

Matthew, if you think work and fun are the same thing, confused does not begin to describe your condition!
But now that I think about it, I completely understand your statement.............

What all are you bringing out this year? The Bus, I know. Is the supercharged Vee going to make an appearance? |
The VEE isn't making it. I am still working on the engine, a ton of r/d has gone into it and I still have a ton on machining to do on the intake system..
The SC is coming with me with the 124 hp 36 hp in it and I'm going to try and get last years engine upgraded, but running out of time. Work and fun just don't seem to mesh _________________ Stocking distributor of "The Funky Green Panels"

Picked up my Engine from Geoff Hart (no more dyno time) and getting ready to install it in the bus.
PREP your VW for the salt, 1 lug nut rusted on, shift rod coupler rusted and a lot of PB blaster to get things apart and I pressured washed it for hours after last years adventure.
Got a few different sizes of tires for the rear to see which works the best.
Got the new steering wheel adapter test fit and need to machine the center of the steering wheel to fit over it.
Once I get the beam ib the Blavk Mamba shifter from Vintage speed Taiwan will go in
Hopefully a test drive this weekend and load on the trailer. _________________ Stocking distributor of "The Funky Green Panels"

Multi class racing is not a big problem when you have a few days to do the tuning and swaps, which is one of the fun things about running at Bonneville.
Good luck Ronnie..................

Ronnie, why not just change out the gearbox for one that has the right gears? It's not that big of a chore (with your straight axle setup) and most transmission shops will put together any R/P and gear stack you want......just saying since you'll have the engine out anyway. |
Time. Rancho offered to build me a trans geared to the engine. I believe the gear stack is good in the trans I have just didn't have the power to pull it, now with twice the HP and torque it might work (at least on paper). The purpose of the smaller tires is to just lower the ratio a little to pull a little higher rpm's in each gear. I need to maintain 6000 to 6500 rpms in each gear. Plus if the new kombo works and I accomplish what I have set in my mind for the 36hp class I can then put the taller tires back on and put a big block in it to try for the 130 club!!! _________________ Stocking distributor of "The Funky Green Panels"

Congrats Ronnie! That engine is an animal. In a Ghia that would certainly get you into the 1 club. Can't wait to see what it does in the SC! _________________ 71 Westy Roadcow

The big engine ( 124hp on Geoff Harts dyno) is as well as done now. The only thing we will be doing is putting it on the dyno again to see if SPEEDWELLS Sebring headers will help with the power, trying to see if we can squeeze a little more out of it. SPEEDWELL is sending me 2 different designs to test and the best of the 2 will stay on the engine for Bonneville.
I also built a new beam for the bus to get the front down a couple inches as I am running going to try smaller rear tires instead of regearing the existing trans.
So the 1582 will go in next week, the 1192 comes out fro some chages and freshing up and I'll be ready to rock.
The Vee car will have to wait till next year, maybe rebodied with a drop tank (lakester).
I'd also like to thank LAT Lubricants for supplying my engine and gear oils, PAC valve springs, Ferrea valves for their support on this years effort along with the support from the all of my last years sponsors , without their help this wouldn't be happening. _________________ Stocking distributor of "The Funky Green Panels"

Well it's almost that time of year again and hopefully the big engine will hold together on the dyno so it can get in the truck. With almost twice the HP I hope to go a little faster (at least enough to get the 1000 bucks from WW!!!)
I would take this chance to thank all my sponsers from last year and sticking with me again for this years effort.
Engine almost done "again"

see you all in a few weeks, yep it's that close!!! |
Ronnie, just a note to you and all the readers of this post, Wolfsburg West has confirmed they will be again offering the $1000.00 Contingency Award to a 36hp Challenger at this years World of Speed.Their assistance it truly appreciated.

Much thanks to Rancho Performance Transaxle for the LAT break in oil, engine oil and gear oil. We'll see if it helps me go faster _________________ Stocking distributor of "The Funky Green Panels"
