If Tomasz makes them, you know they will be nice! He does nice work. I know a few people that would need them, just not soon I think. I have original blades and horns for my car, so I'm ok. _________________ Feb 1944 KdF Type 82e.

Hi Tom,
Thanks to someone with keener eyes than me here in the UK who spotted this thread you now have another interested customer for a set. These are for my '46. It is by no means ready for bumpers yet but will need them eventually! _________________ Rod,

I did not see parts from TOM but he did my chrome work for my oval and I was verry happy with it. And verry fast to. Thumbe up.
I can asure you he is relieble and honnest.
I am sure the quality he deliverd on my parts will be projected also on the parts he makes. If you look at the website you find nice parts for the oldest cars.

First you have to figure how many pre-49's are out there? A few hundred? Then guess how many need bumpres? maybe 1/2 of them or so? Then figure how many of these cars in in "active" restoration? maybe 10-20? Then figure how many of these people can you market and would buy your product rather an make their own or keep searching for originals, etc. ? My guess is it's a few, I think you can sell a "few sets".. just my opinion. _________________ www.VWwerks.com |

hello.
Im after first calculations and the set will cost about 900 - 1000 euro
In primer, If some one will want chrom then is also posible .

Is that 900-1000 Euro for just the horns or the entire bumper? If just the horns or bananas, you should probably seek another tool and die maker.
I know I'd go for a set, and probably a Kamerad building a KdrKafer. But not at $1350-1500 per pair of bananas, primer finished. |

Like a lot of niche shops, I think Tom is trying to gauge interest/orders to see how he could price them to cover his costs. Like a lot of us here who make parts, this is kind of a make or break situation and common business risk. This is especially important for parts that have high tooling costs.
I do believe however, that asking who/how many would be interested without giving a cost range is pretty useless. At some point, a part will be become too expensive to buy for anyone. The sweet spot for price/volume for these kinds of parts has to be pretty low (volume) for it even to make sense.
If it were me, I'd test the waters further by asking those who say would need a set of these bumpers (not want), what range they would be comfortable with. Ranges might include "reasonably priced", "expensive, but I need them for my 40s split" and "forget it, I'll either make my own or bolt up something else".
Hopefully Tom has access to some reasonable fabrication resources and can pull this off successfully. _________________ John Henry
