Does a volvo hall sender fit in '86 vanagon distributor?

IIRC, you have to dismantle the entire dist in order to remove/install the plate. I made a wooden cradle with a hole drilled in the center, in order to drive out the pin for the dist drive.

Yes. I did this swap a few years ago. Any mid-'80's four cylinder version should work.
