Why not restore it back to its drag race days? Its more nostigila (sp). If you want a regular bus, plenty of selection in the classifieds.jmo

Enough said. Anything else would be way too much work. This bus is unique! Refresh this race bus!

I believe he, like me, ran an 1835cc. The bus was a low 9sec 1/8 miler. You can see a dial in of 9.29 in the one pic i posted of it.

Awesome bus, and local too!

Restore it to its former glory, and then some.

I'm curious how he did the center steering, any shots of the beam?

I have one in the buff somewhere also, I think it's of it just sitting in our driveway. And thanks for those pictures by the way, I'll have to add them to the collection if you don't mind. Are you from our area? It seems like alot of people know my father as I get more into vw's.

I raced against your dad for years. I am in Maryland and campaigned the "Squirm'n German" car since the early 90's.

Do as little as possible! Repair rust where needed, but don't paint the whole thing. I'd get it mechanically sound, clean up the rough edges, and race it. It doesn't need a restoration, just a preservation.

I don't think a roof clip would set you back too much in today's buyers market. Might be a problem sourcing something locally though.

I just sold a roof clip at Red Barn. No rust, $100. They're out there.

That thing is awesome and I remember it from the magazines.

Bondo it up like your pops did and shoot some paint on it and go do some wheelies.

Center steering is killer!

Roll -it- and Show it Very Happy[/quote]

That the plan. Racing it would be awesome and will probably occasionally happen, but I have a family and have raced before so I know how those two don't work together most of the time. My wife likes car shows on the other hand Very Happy
