Dear all,

Back in 1982, Kurt Stauss has indeed referred to 2 D&S coupes that he built (1952 split prototype + 1954 Tabakhändler) ... even though his own picture wall also showed press release photos of his very first 1953 coupe.

I was rather pleased to see your postcard from the mid 1950-ies, taken in front of the famous Cafe REAL in Vaduz (capital of Fürstentum Lichtenstein), which sadly closed its doors in 2010 after 90 years of operation. PS: The third photo showing the same care was taken in the inner city of St.Gallen (Switzerland).

There were other D&S coupes, too ...

When I started the D&S registry back in 1978, I didn't anticipate to cumulatively find pictorial evidence of 53 different D&S cars (tally thus far - I know that D&S have built more cars than that, hence please de-dust your photo albums ...) - sadly, only 20 have survived (known thus far - 19 convertibles & 1 coupe). Currently, there are just over 600 period photos in the registry and a D&S e-book is being prepared (just a bit very tight for time ...).

Best regards.

Andy Luzzi

Here is a scan of a postcard I bought many years ago. Looks like it might be the same car. It is the second car from the left. The plate is very hard to read but looks like FL 2482. The badge on the back says FL.

This car also does not have the rectangle lights above the round tail lights & has reflectors between the bumper & below the tail lights.

I hope it's not a problem for me to reply so here goes:
My understanding is that the seats and panels are all original.

The headliner was replaced but a match was found to what was there.
The carpet was replaced as well.

I was told the dash top was repainted silver.

Looks great. It has come a long way.

What all has been done to it? The interior looks like it has had some work done.

It looked pretty trashed when found.

The full story of the car and how I find it, is now published in the Classic Vw magazine of december. The article also include an old picture from 1954/55 of this car that was never published before.

It is now written in Dutch. Soon I will also write it in English for another magazine.
