No real difference that I'm aware of with the motor. I don't know why VW would have had a different numbering system for the Bug and the Bus. Just for record keeping I guess.

Thanks for the quick response, I think you are correct about the El Lobo kit. Mine was built in the 70’s and assuming the 64-66 mustang parts were showing up in the junk yards and the seats are a perfect fit for the platform. Never thought about looking at the bus engine numbers just assumed it was type 1. Are there any other easy differences on a bus engine that may confirm it is definitely a bus motor.

Motor looks to be April 64 bus motor, 1500cc, and you are correct on the chassis being June 56. I have that same body. I think it's an El Lobo, https://www.google.com/search?sca_esv=0619bf7b847f...&dpr=1 I have another buggy I picked up in October 24, That body is a KC Clipper made in Kansas City. What's weird is it a completely different body than yours, but it has the same seat, Mustang, Mirrors, also Mustang, Steering wheel, maybe Mustang, and fuel filler cap, maybe Mopar.

Hopefully someone can help me confirm the year of the donor car and engine, identify the buggy kit manufacturer would also be a bonus but trying to order parts for chassis and engine to get it running again. The engine number is 0566027 and chassis number is 1244651, based on the list under technical data the chassis was produced June 1956 but I think the engine may be an earlier date. Appreciate an insight
Thanks

I can't help with the identity, but that sure is a good looking car. I'm sure you'll have an answer soon.

Can anyone ID this body? It was purchased in Lake Havasu by a friend and he imported it to Canada about 15 years ago then did this awesome redo of it.

This was on the Samba classifieds. Bought it last month and I suspect that it is a Berry Mini T. Just finished tearing it down and found so many issues that it will be a project from the ground up. For instance, the seat belts were attached to the body instead of the frame! Roll bar was held in place with muffler clamps. Built a couple of buggies with Kellison bodies back in the 60's and a homebuilt along the lines of the EMPI Imp.

That looks like an Action Fiberglass T buggy. Berrien Buggy currently makes a similar body style. The Berry Mini-T buggy has a curved lower windshield.

That's not a bad looking one either. Better put a top on it to keep that Washington weather off of you.

I'm looking at this and really don't know about it. I put together its supposed to be a look alike of a Kubelwagen.Anyone know if this was a common kit or?

that looks like a gp kubel, made in the uk in the late 70s to 80s, so not sure how many are in the us. I was told that they were developed for the film industry as real kubels were getting valuable by then.

I have done my due diligence and scanned the DBA, as well as all 32 pages of this thread and I can’t match up my buggy with any of the known models. It’s got a pretty distinctive hood, maybe someone has seen this before?
