IMO if after all these years, EMPI can’t even make cylinder tins correctly, I have no faith in the brand whatsoever!
The only thing EMPI on my Ghia is the wheels and as soon as someone else comes out with a 5.5” wheel with 5” offset I’ll replace those. _________________ Volkswagen!

Steve Long will use any blank you ask for.
Commonly the "Scat" SC-1 blank if he can get them.
More recently he has been using another blank that appears to be the same as a Scat.
I Only use Steve Long cams and lifters.
That's just me who doesn't like motors coming back.. |

If you have the cams you should know what blanks they use. No one can tell you what yours are ground on. There are multiple types and some companies use them or have in the past or will still use different ones. You need to read it. If it says Cwc ep12 that’s what it is. I haven’t bought any in years but that used to be a common one. I don’t remember the other types offhand. But mine were always cwc. It was cast into the blank between the bearings and lobes. I don’t know what empi uses. Never bought one. |

I guess it's a supply and demand scenario.
People demand cheap crap and hey that is exactly what they get which is a pity because now the more hardcore vee dubbers can't get any decent parts because the companies who can produce the better stuff don't bother. |

People are cheap as it is and dont have a clue about the quality of the parts they are buying. Its not the shops that sell the part to put a dollar in their pocket, its what people are buying. Thats how it works unfortunately and no one else has the same line as that four letter word does. |

Thanks to all the input to the whole Engle Cam's/EMPI knock off controversy.
I would like to set some things straight:
As of approximately 10 days ago, I stopped selling EMPI any of our Engle products. I will not continue to support a vendor that copies our product!
NO, Engle Cams has no connection to these cheep China cams.
NO, Glenn(Mr 010) Engle Cams have never been made in China, never has been made on blanks that come from China, and as long as I have anything to do with Engle, will never be...nough said about that!
YES, Engle cams continue to be made on blanks made in America, cast in America from iron ore from America and machined here in America. The only exception is that we do use some blanks that are made in a factory in Japan. This Japanese blank is from a foundry that make the OE Japanese car companies cams. The reason is that these lobes are larger for our bigger lifts. This is nothing new, Engle has done this for over 15 years! In fact, the last time I saw a Web cam it was ground on this same blank.
When I purchased the Engle Cams Company, it was on the verge of Bankruptcy. We have kept this alive for all of us VW lovers. Thanks for all of the support that you have given!
The best way to keep Engle strong is to not buy the knock of stuff!
If there are questions, you have my ear. I am here to support this amazing hobby!

Since IAP has knocked off your camshaft line as well, even going so far as calling them 100, 110, etc in their advertising, have you ceased to do business with them too?

Not seeing this type of ID that you reported on the IAP cams, at least not at the link provided? |

Elgin cams is top notch, california based company second generation, and they know VW, they only appear to sell top rate stuff, are very knowlegable on phone call advice, nice folks to deal with.
I have three of their cams in my cars, very good. they know their stuff.
Of course california might be more communist than red china these days. |
