if the panel came unglued/unwelded, you can use panel bond to re attach it. often times when doing work to old cars, the factory glue will give up. if it was crashed in that area, it could have released the glue/welds once you have brought it back to straight _________________

Thanks for the correction. I used to be a nice guy, then I ruined it by exposing myself to the public. |

Can't see from the inside, there is an interior (metal) panel in the way.
Good idea on pulling the filler, I hadn't thought of that being removable. I'll do some poking around this afternoon and see what I can find. Thanks guys! |

There are a couple of spots that are (were) welded or bonded in there, you'll have to pull the filler to look (should be changing that anyways ). _________________ Rust NEVER sleeps and stock never goes out of style.

pretty sure the filler hole itself adds a bit of structure. have you looked from inside the b us? I think there is only trim panels between you and seeing that sheet from inside. _________________ [email protected]

|
|
I've gotten rid of "most" the flexing/oil canning in my rear panel, except around the gas cap, where there is quite a bit of movement. If I push on the metal I can hear a "ping" sound which sounds like its trying to catch something (see video).
Is there something that the panel should be bonded to back there? If I could figure out exactly where the supports are I'd ideally just drill a hole and weld it in place. I need to use some filler lower down in the panel where I welded in a large patch, and I'm worried that someone will lean up here causing the whole panel to flex a little and crack the thin layer of filler below.

Any tips? Tricks? I've done quite a bit of shrinking on the rest of the panel already, and I think this area is too wide to do the same treatment. |
