This is the # to the service station (704) 537-8106 that the bus is located. It is a 68 camper with the cabinets and bed still there. I'm not familiar with the roof configurations of the bay windows but it has what looks like a full length pop up or tilt.

Good Luck!

engine! original is a 1600SP which is perfect for any bus, if you don't mind stock displacement.

Turns out its a camper with the foldout rear seat.....still has all the camper stuff inside. He's planning to take it to one of the upcoming Vw shows in the Carolina's to part out.

I thought 67 used the 211 501 615 'E' drums where 68 changed to 'F' and then 'G' series. That said, the bay guys would be interested in a lot of this stuff if you can get the bus at the right price.

I know the early bay drums will work on late split spindles, and I think the bearings are the same, but the inner grease seal will need to be sourced. As I recall, the by drum has a different DIA for the seal to fit into, and the spindle either has a spacer for the inner seal lip, or the split has the spacer and the bay doesn't. I can't recall the exact difference right off.

This is the same reason that late bay disc brake hubs bolt right onto late split spindles. All you need is that inner grease seal and a caliper mount bracket.

Front brake cylinders, shoes and drums are the same as a 67 bus. Not sure about wheels bearings and grease seals. If it is a 68, they have some oddball parts that are one year only. There is a market for some of those parts. Not much else will fit your 67, except for maybe some hardware and the stuff already mentioned.

Buy the whole wretched mess and part it out. If it still has the trans you might be able to sell it for what the entire bus costs.

To answer your question, though, I believe the early decklids are compatible. The floors are good for patch pieces along with the rear deck. Of course the engine is basically the same.

Too late for me on this one!
My beam is currently at Womacks been narrowed, flipped & rebuilt. Maybe get it for resale....would hate to see this bus go to the crusher with anything that can't be unbolted.

PostPosted: Tue Mar 26, 2013 8:57 am    Post subject: What Baywindow parts are compatible? Reply with quote

I pass by a domestic repair shop everyday and noticed yesterday that they had a ratty looking 68-70 baywindow in the back lot with a 4 sale sign on it. Today I noticed the front doors missing so I called & they said they were selling parts. I will be going by this afternoon to look at & make an offer(?) on the rear seats.
Are there any other parts that would be compatible with my wife's 67 13 window deluxe that is basically a driving shell?
