very valid point, is there only for initial adjustment of the fuel pump output (by shortening the push rod). Will not be there after this is sorted and remains of 1 yr old fuel in the tank run out. The fuel filter is located under the tank in usual location). _________________

Well on my side not really. I started the engine just yesterday to find out a small oil leak from behind flywheel area so usual suspect is cam plug or inproperly tightened oil galley plug. So the engine goes out on Monday for a repair.
Small progressive changes were made: stock weight 8 dowel flywheel, other exhaust. Starting well, holding nice idle, very rich as my mixture screws are in very basic adjustment. But it will be all sorted.

PLEASE for the love of everything Volkswagen, get that fuel pressure regulator/filter out of there!
If it leaks, it would flow onto the distributor.
It looks like it is mounted to the shroud, something is bound to vibrate loose.
I've seen too many of the remains of those things in burnt-out engine bays. Disaster waiting to happen. PLEASE! |

I plan to break the engine in on conventional ignition as as soon the carbs are set up and I feel comfortable I´ll switch to full EDIS system. _________________

Anyone ever built a 1915 with ported single port heads, stock 8 doweled crank, 34 pict with machined venturi, w100/w110 cam, standard 1 3/8 header with hideaway, and an 034 distributor for a daily street driver?
Just curious since I have all the parts to throw one together but just don't see a lot on the forum on this type of combination.
What do you guys think?

I did build this engine for a 71 bus a few years back and to make it worse I used a stock bus exhaust. As a few have said it runs out of steam early but it pulled hard off the line. I used a stock cam and dual relief Mexican universal case, if you need low end torque just to putt around its interesting and cheap to build |

Engines installed and broken in. Can't get it to idle right now with the ict's (60/140 jets). Gonna have to work on that. The idle speed screws want to be over 3 turns out. Thoughts? _________________ 1969 Type I

So I went to set the endplay today. Just pushing/pulling the flywheel I get .010" with no shims. If I slightly rotate while i push/pull I get between .035/.045
What measurement am I supposed to go by? .010" seems a little tight with no shims... _________________ 1969 Type I

Runs great. Just took it on a 400 mile trip to Jerome for the jamboree. Pulled the hills better than i hoped. Got excellent gas mileage. _________________ '57 oval window deluxe,Agave green(L240) 2276cc w/51.5 IDA's

Your engine looks great, and just like my 1955cc singleport. Your 60 idles and 140 jets sound perfect. I think you will be close with that setup. _________________ '57 oval window deluxe,Agave green(L240) 2276cc w/51.5 IDA's

I'll get a video of it for sure.
How does the jetting sound for the ICT's?
60 Idle, 140 Mains. Should be able to start it up for break in on these jets I'm thinking. _________________ 1969 Type I

Wouldnt that give me a deck hight of 0.030 possibly? Which would be 9.3:1 for the compression for the C25. Wouldnt I run into valve clearance issues here? _________________ 1969 Type I
