Here's some pics of a shifter I installed into a 1968 bus. It does have a base plate for sure and was a bitch to adjust even though all the shift components had been rebuilt including the transmission.

... these shifters will exagerate worn out linkage bushings. They multiply the throw so if anything in the system is worn it will not work well for you. There are two bus shifters produced, one for the early and one for the late bus. Check the part # with Berg before you buy.

The best shifter when adjusted correctly.I have two, one in my 71westy and one in the sc.I have the sc adjusted correctly ad the shifting is excellent. You will be pleased. It adjusts same as stock, just move it around a bit and test drive.

Aloha gang! Im planning on buying a Gene Berg shifter from a friend who says he got the shifter a long time ago and it came from a 70s bus. My question is... Is there a bottom plate that goes with it? Or can i just install it and see if it works?? Is there a special way to install it... like does it have to be in neutral position to install the shifter?? Any help would be great... Much mahalos! (thanks) \m/
