Opps don’t mind me, jus a flash back.

Anything you remember from the race would be appreciated!

Got the oil leaks sorted.
Hoping to roll this beast all summer.

New MT's installed. Check out the triple shocks.

Easy does it on your back, I've lost many years with my bad back now I just try to take it easy. I love this photo! Curious why you don't buy a Gene Berg engine, I don't need one but I'll buy theirs if I ever do.

Good news!
Pulled the engine, and while there is ample evidence of oil leaking, The clutch, flywheel, and interior transmission bell are dry as a bone!

Gonna mount it up on an engine stand and fire her up, looking for leaks.
I'm thinking it's just excessive case pressure. It only has a small mushroom air outlet at the oil fill neck.

I know that on anything bigger than a 40 horse, and even on most of those, VW routed a pressure line back to the interior, vacuum-side air cleaner to suck the excess crank gases back into the intake.

How do you big engine folks recommend lowering crankcase pressure in a 1914 with dual carbs? Ported inlet manifolds feeding a breather box, then connected to the case with a line from the oil fill?

I've loved that truck ever sense I first saw it getting air in that "How to Off Rode your VW" book. It was my inspiration back in the 70's.

Wow! Five years since the last Trailbash!
Still having problems with the go-fast engines.
I'm just not good at these 1914cc thingys.

Had an engine built, got 40 miles on it, and the front main seal gave out.
Been literally on by back with disc issues, and surgery, but now I'm getting "back" into it.
Pulling the engine this weekend to see what's what.

And I never get tired of seeing this:

After sitting with a bad and leaky transmission for over two years now, I'm delivering the Baja to Dennis at Valley VW in Drums, PA to give the truck some love.

Hoping to get the Baja into reliable driver status after too long sitting.
Wish us luck!

Those are nice tires, not DOT approved but really nice. I would just go with the Yokohamo Y742s.

Those duellers look good. I almost got them but ended up with General Grabber At2s. 31"s sure are nice on the freeway Cool

That truck has been a great inspiration for me.

The offroad tire for the front centerlines would be Mickey Thompson mini mags. The look from the side is similar. They are 27" diameter, I may have to get a set:
